Bro this video makes me feel so much better even reading these comments like here's my pick now: when I was a kid I knew exactly what I be because art and drawing was the only thing I'm good about even I study different artists and everything, there's a curtain point in my life that fell out of hand to me and realized not everyone means what they say you know, and to make it worse there's people younger than me that's succeeding the Hobby that I want to do, hell they're making their own merchandise, plushie, have the best support in the world yet I have none that nor do I even get started on those things yet, even though i keep saying i will get there and make it and hope i get to publish my own manga/comic one day, but no gears to gwt there, it took me like right now to get my own iPad and that's crazy I'm still waiting on buying it wish I was get the iPad before, even my younger cousins got one before me and she knows what she wants to do on it and she's doing a better job on her passion more than I am, I just want to give up and let it go on what I really like to do because life is already struggling enough why i takes breaks and hiatus because how bad my life can be, I feel like I'll get there I don't know but all I know is I won't give up what makes me feel good that I'm not the only one that feels this way

I still use the T3i I got all the way back in 2011, and have atrophied in using it well. This will be an essential watch I think.

It’s an unfortunate effect of creativity. Spending your entire life in pursuit of something wonderful really hurts.

Cinematographers care less about depth of field and more about the amount of light the lens can collect, which is why cinema lenses use T-stops instead of F-stops

The "few" shots with shallow depth of field are the long lens shots, genius.

My first camera was a Panasonic FZ7. It took videos in 480p and I loved it so much. And I dreamt of better things. This is the tool that I used to make my first video. Today I use the Sony FX30. Gear does matter.

The images are still so lovely from this little camera. Blackmagic Design for true digital film cameras always.

I think people already know gear doesn't matter as so many people shoot on mobile phones. It's a good message but I don't think it's worth being a life long campaign. Just make good stuff with good or bad gear, it's up to you... I think the goal could be make good stuff on any kind of gear... And show how you can be creative on high end and low end stuff... And there certainly is a place for high end cameras.

I don't enter Festivals at all. Because I know, I will be there for nothing. My film suck and I am 28, not 17. Time to change the career as long as I can. Otherwise I end up under the bridge.

Get the BMCC instead. SSDs are much cheaper than cards, the camera is cheaper and one v-mount battery is cheaper than 10 small batterys.

great video, really helpful. thank you if you wanted to avoid issues with colour inconsistencies over the duration of the film, is there a way to shoot directly in black & white on a dSLR? or would you shoot let's saw in RAW & then apply a monochrome filter in post?

im in highschool freshman year, and loved movies where you could interpret different meanings without being wrong, but have a huge influence with no words i want to create a movie like that someday.

i dont get these discussions about 1500 vs 30000 lenses, cameras, lights... there is a reason why it costs so much. and if someone doesnt get this, shall film with sirui on an iphone with some amaran lights and be happy. hollywood must be stupid using ARRI cam and lights and panavision lenses...😂

The only issue is the A7sii is limited to 8 bit internal recording unless you use an external recorder and that makes gimbal work an issue

Well, in a sense, everything that's not perfect is a lie. And there's an endless sea of books, paintings, movies, etc., which isn't making the world any better but more confusing. Art is something very rare, something that takes like 3 decades or so.

I think the best middleground is to shoot 50fps at 1/50, that way you can cut it to 25fps if needed normal speed and have slow motion, Sure it's blurrier but that's better than choppy. (same would go with 48fps to 24fps... or heck, 60 to 30)
