Having recently seen a video with a bad mock up of the battle using a computer game it's great to see a pretty accurate portrayal with the river as defence, the correct cannon being used and dedicated loaders for the muskets. Those volley shots of spears look terrifying, the trekkers were lucky they had good leaders.
What did the British Empire , and the Soviet Union , have in common ? Everywhere in the world they went , people couldnt wait to see them leave .

Brits preferred to fight enemies wearing grass skirts and toting spears, considering this a "jolly fair fight" by "primitive natives". Shooting bullets at Brits was usually followed by military retreats and peace agreements. The English are too effete for war, which is why they traditionally kept Scots, Welsh and "colonials" around to do their fighting.

Seriously….I know the British army fighting tactics were poor. But they didn’t go into battle with a full brass band and orchestra. That’s just BS

And this, children, is why Britain had so many incompetent leaders in WWI.
@DelogrosАй бұрын
Not really, that was more to do with the massive expansion of the British army, same thing happened with most armies in WW1, only real exception seems to be the Germans who not coincidentally where the only ones with a fully esablished and experienced general staff pre 1914.

The English have bullied, slaughtered their way through the world stealing from countries their treasures. Ingrates them all and thank God they have nothing of America. My Irish roots despises the English for their enslaving us and even the children. Queen Victoria was a fat murderess bitch. It was the English who fostered the slave trade not whites per say.
@DelogrosАй бұрын
" It was the English who fostered the slave trade not whites per say." That shows a blinding ignorance of history, even if we are just talking about the Atlantic slave trade and ignoring the others that have existed for thousands of years before it the Portugese where doing it before the British started and after the British stopped and they transported more then twice as many slaves as the British did (55.7% of the total). The British also spent FAR more money and not to mention over 17,000 Royal navy sailors stopping the trade and every other trade they could around the world by either buying people off or forcing them to stop.

@DelogrosАй бұрын
The Boers stiole much of the food supplies for those camps so they are as much to blame as anyone, one of the tactics you can use is to try and remove an armies supply network which is all the British where trying to do really.

It was during this war that the British created the first Death Concentration Camps. Then we the British getting angry when the Germans simply had Work Camps.
@DelogrosАй бұрын
Not really, 1) not the first concentration camps and 2) not created as "death camps". So 12 million people died in German "work camps" did they?

This was all for the gold snd diamonds. None of which was taken or given to the British people, but went to the Rothschild and cousins pockets. You know, the Tribe of Captain Hook.

A key factor in such an almost perfect Boer victory is that they are fighting on their native soil. Another factor is that for a typical Englishman and a soldier in a red coat, fighting in a hot climate was very unusual and fraught with some difficulties. Another factor is the very low population density per square mile. Boers are used to living in such hot, dry and vast territories. And, of course, the arrogance and self-confidence of the British soldiers and the underestimation of the enemy, who has sufficient skills and capabilities to effectively repel the attacks of small detachments of redcoats.

Damn poor leadership by the British commander. He should have had his troops in better position, and thrown up entrenchments on the hilltop. He also failed to respond to the danger to the Highlanders in a timely fashion, despite being warned twice.
