Bro the fact that it has a kick start makes it worth rebuilding from the ground up. They don't make those anymore. I have a honda 750 that has a kick start and it's locked up, Im keeping it for that fact alone.

Just accomplished this today. I took my time and thanks to your video, it was easy! The only task is when the ball joints begin to spin. Oh and I had to partially disassemble again because I forget to reinstall the flat washer between the knuckle and axle. 😂

I have this same bike. Fuck that petcock. I rebuilt mine and still got gas everywhere trying to get it to work. You really need to get that airbox back on, these bikes are tuned for the flow restriction of the stock airbox. Mine was a mess, I did what I could with silicone and foam weatherstripping.
@langspeedcycle19 күн бұрын
Dude I agree. Yeah that airbox is crucial to tuning the carbs right! Ignore the internet saying you can without them

So I have a 2012 JGC Overland Edition...it needs new headlights and i am interested in these. you said "they were $300" does that mean $300 for both or each?? because i keep on seeing like cheap ones but then i see only for the quantity of 1, so i get confused. anybody wanna help with this?? Thanks.

Your Overland might have projector HID headlamps and might not swap as easy as mine that was a Laredo. It was 300 for a pair. Thank you for watching!

Your video gave me the confidence to replace mine and save $$$. So easy! Thanks for taking the time and helping so many of us wanabe gear heads! I ordered my axle (TrakMotive) from RockAuto and in the install instructions, it said in ALL CAPS NOT to put any lubrication, grease or anti seize on the splines or threads. I thought it odd to say that, but I did what they said. It seemed to have a coating of light oil on it already. I suppose each manufacturer might be different but thought I would mention this just in case. Probably makes sense to read the instructions if any come with the parts. Thanks again for posting!

So there is a clip on the inner splines of the axle that keep it in the differential, and you need to use a popping/snapping motion to take it out!

Normally with the Scout- even the very early ones, the gearbox bolted onto the back of the motor. I dont even know if this is a scout, as the gearbox is all wrong, and the frame is completely different. Even the exhausts are home made.

Your turn signals only had two wires. What did you do with the black wire. Because of the two wires I now have nothing connected to the black wire in the headlight housing. When i just hook the blue and green or blue and brown i get a hazard lights effect. Because theres no 3rd wire.

The 1979 GS850G is a heck of a good bike and you’ve really scored there - but I will say that it would pay to be a bit more methodical when trying to start a new-to-you bike or car. Perhaps check for. Spark at one of the leads and also check to see if there is a clutch lever safety switch…
