a long time ago I used to make wind spinners from wood which were similar-ish to this and did not need anything more than a saw and drill to produce. plus threaded bar and bearings. I used wood which was cut into slats about an inch wide and 12 inches long and 3/8 thick. In the centre of the slat drill a hole to take a threaded bar. The slats were stacked on to the bar leaving enough room to put a washer and nuts either end and some bearings. The largest I made was 3 feet long and it needed a good attachment to a wall to hold it as it had a fair weight to it and spun at quite a rate. I had plans to put a generator on one to see what it would produce but never got around to it. Assembled in this manner produced a flat panel which could then be arranged by moving each slat up to a third ish of its width at the outside edge relative to the slat below it to produce a helix. Pretty much any wood can be used from ply to hardwood. I used short lengths of timber and ran them through a table saw cutting slices from the side of the timber 3/81/4 was about ideal ( from memory) to get a nice helix but that depended on the length of threaded bar I had. (Ply would have to be cut on the face rather than the side). Also if you wanted to move the spinner you just moved the slats back so it returned to a flat panel.

A good location for this wind wall concept might be in the gap between two houses. It could be wall anchored at both gable ends. And wind would be funneled into the turbine.

You could run a bicycle chain among the rotors and drive just one generator.

You could do the frame as V in both sides, the V pointing at the aksel, would provide more wind, maybe even double. For the last blue blade, sorry can't remember the name, make one long piece of one side, and use it as a mold for GRP, then make as many as you want.

Out of all of these different styles do any actually show sizeable advantages on power output? I am about to start experimenting with a modular wall to power my van system and these look brilliant! :)

the blue turbine - What if you made the top half twist the other way so it would create scoops on each side? Might make it turn faster.

Are humans more annoyed with sideays motion than vertical motion? Would wind walls with horizontal shafts be less of a nuisance?

Love your experiments. Would adding a pair of magnets to each end at the axle creating a levitation cushion reduce friction and wear and tear on the fan motor?
