This tutorial shows a little hack on how to trick Flight Simulator 2020 into thinking your model is larger than it actually is, which will prevent it from being unloaded out of view at distance.
Smaller objects will unload from view in Flight Simulator 2020 and this can cause issues with visual pop in of objects, especially objects that are important to your scenery, such as airport instructions, etc.
The hack works by placing a much larger cube mesh around your object and setting it to have an invisible material, which the sim will still consider your mesh to be much larger than it actually is and therefore render at a further distance.

You are incredibly smart! Hope modders/creators start implementing this! It’s been so distracting seeing the pop-in/disappearing objects. I’m going to link this to the comment pages of the scenery pages I find this happening! Thank you!

Brilliant! And maybe it explains why trees are too big and windsocks can't been seen when you need them.. you should tell Asobo about that trick. Cheers!

Thank you! Especially helpful for my custom night lighting, as light sources exported from blender only tend to be a few centimeters in diameter and therefore vanish in msfs when zooming out!

Another great tutorial! Very smart that option. What about changing the view parameters in Blender, there where you have the focal length, clip start and end. by placing an end of let's say for a building example to 4.000 meters? Thank you

This trick seems so awesome... having a bit of issue compiling my project after this JOIN cube trick is applied to my object? the modelLib.BGL is not being created anymore? I did join them in the correct order but somehow I feel the object not that its joined thinks its 100% transparent?

Nice. Have you noticed any downsides? MSFS pops out objects to reduce the drawing load at distance so in theory having a lot of objects using this technique might have a performance hit but I'm guessing it would be pretty small unless you have hundreds or more.

Yes, you'll definitely have a performance hit, as you say the more being drawn, the more the graphics card is working. However, the performance hit may be completely unnoticeable. I've added about 100ish caravans to my wellesbourne mountford scenery, and I don't notice any performance drop when they're loaded in.

Nice hack, but how did you get Villa Park in the UK update without Birmingham City ground? lol

The blues ground is in the UK update, but only as photogrammetry, not as a hand crafted model.
