04 Factory Updates to New Force Gurkha - No One Told You About | Learn How to Get them on your Car!

This video shows you why and how I upgraded my steering rack in my Force Gurkha BS6.
The company has included many improvements in the later models manufactured in 2022. Owners of early batch Gurkhas can incorporate these in their vehicles…but only if they know about it.
The updates which I could find out in comparing new Gurkha with my 2021 Force Gurkha BS6.
1. Steering Rack.
2. Dead Pedal.
3. Anti roll bar clamps.
4. Bump Stop Reinforcement.
Do you think that companies should let older owners know about the updates they have introduced in their newer models so that they can benefit from these, at least on individual choice and additional payment?

Yes sir I agree with you. The company Force Motors does not take any initiative to preach the customers. All they are bothered is to sell this vehicle. They are busy enjoying the unimaginable profits that they got since the launch of Gurkha BS6 model, that they forget and become negligent towards the clients.

Hi Vignesh, I have a Nov 22 Gurkha, so pretty sure I got the updated rack. On getting more involved with the Gurkha, I have created a mental checklist to go through before taking out the truck. I open the hood once a week to check all the fluids and also the hoses to make sure everything is fine, well that has been a general practice even with my previous cars. Thanks for creating this video.

Nice points, thanks for sharing, not many go under the Jeep even to grease the joints! Inspection after and befor every long trip or rainy season or water wading helps and preventive maintain e is the key! Also each batch of G is handcrafted and very different from the older one :) one adv ie does not fit all too.

Great observations, i think i have the newer model feb 22. Can't agree with you more regarding what the company coming clean with upgrades and potential improvements. They seem scared. even after you have made it clear you are well intentioned they dont come clear easily. Thanks for the observations. i will look at the clamps. again, yes it is a vehicle needing a lot of owner involvement which i am failing. Service point is 50 km away. So i keenly follow your posts thanks again james.

When I took the test drive of Force Gurkha BS6 2022 last year and i wonder how this big truck with Hydraulic power steering which is very light than my Chevy Beat Diesel with electric power steering. Also the super light clutch. Now my Chevy Beat clutch suddenly feel like heavier.

I understand what you are trying to say but I am observing Force Motors from past 20 years, they are one of the most nerdy, not socially aware kind of company. They produce 1990 fit and finish vehicle and expect people to pay 2020 prices. I have supported Gurkha as a fan boy in every forum and yearned to buy one as a kid but the company people are just a bunch of old dudes still in Hindustan ambassador era. Only now they seem to have waken up. Contrast this to how enthusiastic Mahindra is regarding Thar.

There’s no comparison . The Gurkha Xtreme was the best Gurkha ever. A true blooded off-roader. However , the updated BS6 Gurkha (which is actually the updated Explorer) does have massive improvement in terms of interior appointments , bs6 compliance ,airbags and better on road ride due to a very well set up IFS suspension. This Gurkha still has potential as a platform to be a great overland trail built vehicle which I’m attempting with my Django, please do watch my Indian Grenadier video to get the difference .

As I explained in video . The old steering was recirculating ball type . This bs6 is rack and pinion. Try Swastik fabs if they have a carrier for you.

Why have anti-roll-bar on a true 4x4? In any case if you have an anti-roll-bar, it should have an easy dis-connect so that the vehicle has greater articulation.

If you want, you can disconnect the front one in this Gurkha quite easily. Let the rear pan hard stay. It is what makes the gurkha manageable on trail turns with its bumpy rear beam. The articulation achieved by front disconnect is small but encouraging . The rear had a different effect. A separate video on anti sway bars is in the works

Have you tried bad roads (tar roads with potholes) after changing? Mine is 2022 and there is a sound coming from the steering column on such roads. I did a few follow ups with Force and Zonal service head did a test drive. And concluded that it is a common thing and was not prominent in older Gurkhas with tight steering.

My run is mostly off-road . Some amount of jolting is characteristic of Rack and pinion. But too much sound and metallic clank may point to lose linkages .Be sure to rule those out and you are good 👍

Sir can you help me with this query? I wanted to understand how is Gurkha’s exhaust placed. The used case here is to know if gurkha can handle water logging in standstill traffic. The snorkel and water wading capacity will defiantly help but depending on where the Gurkha exhaust is placed, I can better understand the vehicles capability.

1. Gurkha exhaust doesn’t come till rear, so you can’t see it normally . Under body it terminates near the mid section of the truck. Please see my underbody coating video or How to Drive 4x4 video or even my underbody bashplate video to see the position of the exhaust. Rule: The snorkel 🤿is an air breathing mechanism for the engine. It can provide high altitude dust free air during normal and trail driving for better efficiency if engine -and in water wading helps the engine to continue breathing. Standstill when the vehicle has no forward motion, the position of the exhaust is not relevant because water would reach the opening if it’s forward mid or rear. (Unless it’s a tractor where it points up 👆 😁) HOWEVER inherently back pressure of diesel engines is high enough to keep the water out as long as the engine is running. So it would survive some standstill water logging as well.👍at standstill there are other orifices through which water can creep in example diff breather hoses if not vented up properly and of course a host of electricals that can bust. But thumbrules hold good. 1. Say no to seawater, 1. Avoid water wading or waterlogged roads as much as possible unless unavoidable. 2. If have to enter water please know the terrain and depth 3. Maintain slow and steady speed, don’t splash , maintain momentum and get out. Please watch my water crossing video for performance in water fording of gurkha

Best-est practice is of course not to go into flooded streets . Bad scenario if you get stuck in waterlogged traffic and come to standstill. No car is immune to such treatment. Regardless of whatever claims of waterwading depth maybe . IF IF If unavoidable:- If going in waterlogged maintain momentum form bow wave ahead of you and get out asap . Don’t splash. Don’t switch off engine . Don’t upshift . Maintain low gear slow and steady, don’t change gear while in water. IF engine stalls.DONT start it again don’t crank key. Abandon and push to side if possible and wait for water to recede.

Hello sir!! I have just bought a used gurkha june 2022. I dont hav much knowledge about 4x4 machine. And i dont have force service station near me. I have query nd please enlighten me that i felt that 4x4 stick is quiet hard. It needs a very hard shift and push to change it to 4x4. Is it normal or it has any issue??

It’s pretty normal. You will also notice that it refuses to disengage and return to 2H often. General : Avoid using 4H on hard roads/traction surfaces . In case it’s stuck in 4X4, Just reverse over slippery surface and gently rock it back .

Steering sound irritates me during off-roading. mouthpiece also not working and USB port hanging through small gap in steering...lots of improvement is needed.

Get your steering linkages checked. Knocking sound is symptom of a wobbly linkage in the rack.

@@tripaccino thanks for reply, but I booked thar yesterday, it seems gurkha sales executive was not aware of this, he was like ha wo thoda rust hota hai...i have 5 yr old car and it is still like new and this guys test drive vehicle was having snorkel bolt rust drip mark on body paint.
