Glad you referenced, albeit briefly the health scares around these machines. Supposedly playing them would turn you in to a murderous psychopath who couldn’t tell the difference between the real world and a filled vector, textureless blocky game. 😄

16:10 ahhhh memories. I won a competition back in 1992 at Guildford Spectrum playing this game, and it was unreal to fly a plane in VR back in the day. Great days.

I love retro tech, and I love seeing KZfaqrs rediscover and cover more 90's VR stuff like this, _especially_ since they're becoming more and more rare and will only become more difficult to work with in the future. You're not the only one who thinks losing these things is heart-breaking -- I always wanted to play these as a kid. Saw a bit on a TV show back in the 90's where they played Battlezone at a "Cyber Cafe" and lost my little mind... and of course, I never actually saw one of those entertainment centers before their moment had passed :( Anyway, thanks to you and Nostalgia Nerd for going through the huge headache it took to even capture this game footage! And just, like, thanks in general for putting out so many great vids this year - we all know you have had some rough patches (to say the least) but you really are just incredibly fun to watch. I'm glad I discovered your channel this year! Really, _really_ hoping that your 2020 is going to be excellent and your KZfaqr experience goes smoother than it did in 2019 :D

I remember in the 90's convincing my parents to drive 68 miles(1 hour and a half) to "Santa Claus Land" because they had a Virtuality machine, then after Queueing up for maybe another hour, telling my dad to do it because I was too scared at that point. My brother and sisters were probably off with my mum looking at the other attractions.

I vividly remember playing VTOL in an arcade in Leicester in the '90s. I loved it. It was a sit-down cabinet, I don't remember the modesty screen. I had to wait about 20 years to get a home version (Rift).. Would love to have a go at the old Virtuality cabinet again, but I worry that it'll ruin my rose tinted memory with a bucket of cold physical reality.

When you see how much these numpty 'presenters' at the BBC are being paid and to see you are the full package, it's upsetting. To have someone that knows what they want from behind the camera to in front of the camera is a skill not shown by many. And your humour.... it's exactly what we need!!! It has a Spike Milligan twist to it! Regarding your issues with the stripes/bars on the composite video. Have you tried a TBC (Time Base Corrector) or a Sync Re-inserter? x

These 1st VR machines were in our local Dave & Busters in Solihull, UK. Basically an overgrown expensive arcade with huge pool tables & happy hour cocktails.

Well holy crap. 1. I remember playing the Dinosaur game in VR as a kid in 90's South Australia. 2. I'm partially blind in my right eye since birth but have depth perception and peripheral vision. The vision in my right eye is like looking through a tinted coffee table made of glass.

24:37 There was this movie Staring Sinbad called "First Kid". There is a small scene in the movie where the "First Kid" is playing one of these games. I am happy to see I finally know the name of it. I will say, with our new VR technology, I I think it's time to try to port these games over (If it can be done). Probably the only way the regular Joe could play them now a days.

I played Dactyl Nightmare 2 in a 4 player setup while in Florida in the 90's. Slow framerate, janky controls, but a lot of fun! Just 4 kids living the dream of VR while shouting taunts at each other.

God I love that mid-90s untextured polygons look. It takes me right back.
