At 0:53 does he really say "I couldn't speak Swiss" ?! That sums up some of the language problems

Or should that be "Romansh"?

The British are the first to accuse others of not being able to speak English but are pig ignorant about other cultures.

Euro-Porridge would have been a much better title than Eldorado.

Thank you for this-most interesting too. Eldorado of course, was co-created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland, who had already done EastEnders, as well as Angels and The District Nurse for BBC1 before it. It was a shame of course that it did not work. But then there have been many soap operas too on the 'other side' as we know. Coronation Street; Crossroads; Emmerdale Farm (when it started); Albion Market; Take The High Road; Brookside; Hollyoaks; Castles (which was later on BBC1 in the 1990s); Family Affairs; and so on, amongst the British ones, as well as the American, Australian and other imports in the past. Some work, some don't, but I guess that's how it goes anyway. Well done of course too!!

Also Triangle, which had been on BBC1 before Eldorado from 1981-1983 so too. Set on a North Sea ferry, it starred Kate O'Mara amongst others but was later widely panned so then too of course as well.

perhaps they shouldn't have built a whole set at first , as in build houses , maybe they should have used studio sets for the insides

3:56: I don't think it was just a Scottish audience that may have resented a 'Little England' title, but also the Welsh and N. Irish. Especially with the British Union Jack seen alongside the logo.
@brucedanton3669 Жыл бұрын
You are so right really-the Irish, Scots and Welsh would no doubt not have liked a title with England in it, and that would have been the case I am sure-even though of course it was not anyway.

Is the owner of this channel still around? I like the content but the videos are so old I suspect the owner has left the channel. Can you let me know, thanks.

They axed Wogan's chat show for this pile of shit. Yes Wogan was not exactly the mind challenging show you want, but at least it was popular. Terry Wogan loved how this show bombed, he felt vindicated.
@brucedanton3669 Жыл бұрын
I know I later read Polly Toynbee, who is a columnist on The Guardian, but at the time also on the Radio Times in 1993, saying that Wogan was a tired show-indeed so then too I wonder of course?!

The BBC have been pushing their pro E.U agenda since long before they went crazy over Brexit. #DefundtheBBC
