I did a stop motion project like this in high school with a guitar hero guitar, with this song. When you said "hours of video editing later", I REALLY felt that. The thing is, I could actually play the damn thing, so I gave up on stop motion after the beginning intro part and just continued the video from there with just plain footage of my hands and the screen. I got an A on the project. My teacher said "it was a cool reveal when it switched from stop motion to real time, showing that you can actually play the song on guitar hero. That was pretty crazy". I happily accepted the compliment, knowing that the switch to real time was out of sheer laziness, not wanting to go through that agonizing editing process anymore.

It's probably hard to move the collar fast enough without breaking the Lego blocks off unless he's done something fancy with the connections. You also probably have to be pretty precise with the movements or you'll end up playing the wrong note.

I'm not saying it's "easy" to play, but it's not certainly not "unnatural", at least not on a real guitar. There are a lot of excellent guitarists out there who would be able to play the song if they spent the time necessary to learn it.
