My mother gave me this advice. Buy five acres out in the country. Have it surveyed. As soon as the survey flags are in, set big sturdy corner posts about one foot inside the flag. That way you will always know where your markers are. Then build good fence. The kind danny is showing in this video. Then put your house right in the center of your property so nobody can mind your business.

What if you want wild animals to wander onto your property to shoot? I'm just being difficult, you don't have to answer that.

@@zedzed5276 lf you are not concerned about feral humans you can leave gates open at various places. There is a way to build openings in the fence that allow foot traffic but not vehicles. Deer can jump fences, smaller critters can climb over or dig under if they really want too.

I agree...if the animal is ruining fences time to cull the herd. I got on for you (that totally floored me!), I saw a post on another site where someone had an egg bound hen. She took it to the vet and paid $260 to save the bird! I choked when I saw that! That bird would be in a stew pot in my book!

I have a 12 foot chain that I use all the time and I found it to be extremely helpful to take a can of spray paint and paint the center mark on that link. That way you're always pulling from the center if you hook the hooks on the correct amount of links both top and bottom if you know what I mean

One interesting tip that I learned from an old rancher is: you dig and set your fence posts in the winter and you string your wire in the heat of the Summer. If you string it in the winter, it will be lose in Summer because of the heat stretching the wire.

That's what my husband says what's been said " good fence makes good neighbors ". But " Great fencing makes Great neighbors " He's constantly redoing, sections. I've learned why over the years termites, carpenter ants, acts of God, with a little bit of human interaction.. That's why we, (me and our children), chipped in and got him a cart & drone set.. He loves it. It took him longer to get use to the cart than the drone. Lol. Thank you for sharing. You're really a good carpenter. Peace

If you asked my dad why he never took over the family farming business full time, he’d tell you: fencing 🤣 he spent every minute after school working on fences, and every minute after work (when he wasn’t wrangling us three kids) working on fences haha no such thing as being “done” if you’re gonna do it right!

Hey Danny sir. I know it's a bit late, but if you get a piece of long rebar or pipe and run it through the fence core (like a kitchen rolling pin), and tie each end of a ten foot rope to the ends on the rebar, you can unroll that fence by pulling backwards like a roll of toilet paper! Just di it for about 1/2 mile over rough terrain. God bless you and Miss Wanda!

Heh heh - an old Ford pickup works for pulling wire too if you're careful. If you set your posts in crushed stone it's better than concrete because it holds just as well but the rocks let the water drain away so that the post doesn't rot as fast. It needs to be angular rock, not river rock, so that they lock together when you tamp it in with a tamping bar.

Love RedBrand woven wire deer fencing (60 inch), Franklin T-posts and Wedge-Loc fencing and gate system, all made in the USA. My fence and gates have no wood posts and NO Cement (use diagonal T-posts on corners with Wedge-Loc). Have rocky clay soil which an all T-post fence (no wood posts or cement) and Wedge-Loc work perfect in. Installed Fence and gates back in 2014 and it is still like new. Used two come along winches to pull it tight (don't have a tractor).

Good video. Fencing is so important to a successful "business" .couple of things I've learned over the years. Don't buy cheap gates. If your cows get to fighting or spooked and hit s cheap gate it will bend and they will get out and the gate will be trash. Also get the right kind of fence for your livestock. If you have goats the type of fence Danny put up will hold them no doubt but because the squares are large enough to stock their heads through they will tear it up with their horns. If you have hogs we always ran a string of barbwire at the bottle so when they get to rooting around the fence their smout will hit the barbs and they would back off. Sometimes we would have to run a string of electric barbwire at the bottom. Properly set corner post is the most critical part of a good fence system. Putting up fence will wear ya ass out!!!! Do it once, do it right!
