Dioxazine purple is the most gorgeous color. It has the best range in masstone for monochromatic work in oils, imo!

I don’t think you _actually_ dislike purple. Let me explain, whenever you say you _don’t_ like a purple it’s _usually_ more of a _magenta_ (Purple + Pink) instead of plain purple. But when you say you _do_ like a purple, it’s _usually plain purple, legitimate, plain, unchanged, just regular purple._ So, in a way, you’re kind of like me, even though _purple_ is my _favorite color,_ I _hate magenta._

@KaseyGolden i love your videos and they’ve taught me so much on how versatile and challenging watercolors can be. I’ve been painting with watercolors for a few years but I can never figure out how to keep my paper from warping. I’ve tried various different types of tape for a flat border but it always buckles and ruins my edge😞.

when you're laying down shadows, how do you not rewet the pigment and get weird lifting texture? I've been watercoloring for a while now and I get so afraid to put down shadows bc I think it ruins my piece when I put them on, I just hate the texture of it. yours always look so smooth

If you work fast it should be fine. The more you work it the more it activates and lifts!

Did you shake the masking fluid? I have the same kind and since I barely use mine, it thickens up alot, so when I do use it, I have to shake it for a while and it thins out and works fine.

You're not supposed to shake masking fluid as it exposes it to more air which activates it to thicken. Whoops.

@@KaseyTheGolden also i think it might be because you applied it pretty thick, again idk if it's the same for all masking fluids but from what i heard you have to apply it thinly so that it's more like you're pulling the masking fluid off the paper than the paper off the masking fluid ;p

I've found those rubber tipped things that look like brushes, but are for shaping clay, are good for applying the masking fluid since it's really easy to clean up after!

I have some ideas why the masking fluid tears at the paper. You already said that it's old, that could be it. Or maybe it was cheap? I have Schmincke masking fluid, been using it for ages and it still works perfectly. And thirdly, I think you put it on so thickly, I think it's supposed to be used lightly? But that's just what I can come up with.

Schmincke? Are you using the blue or transparent one? Mine always tears up the paper :/ And it stains like crazy! (i only apply a very thin layer as well)

Oh my god! Thank you Kasey, this may sound long drawn out but whatever, since I moved into my new room my two pet birds get upset bc my window lets lots of noise in and they squawk all the time but since I started watching you again they don't make a sound, I guess your voice calms them or something, idk. But I do know that they love your vids and as a result, I do too. ❤️

I have a tip for you, Kasey! Instead of masking fluid, try using a white crayon, then painting over that! It'll be a little harder to see where you're going with the white crayon, though. But it works much better! Have a good day!
