Vince wanted Rey to win. Maybe it was originally planned for Orton to win, but I believe that because Eddie had passed that previous November, it had to be Rey winning it if for nothing more than the symbolism. Especially since after one particular bit between Rey and Orton went sideways when Orton said to Rey in a promo that "Eddie was burning in hell" (paraphrased I'm sure). Like that was the moment I realized Rey was definitely gonna win. And on top of that, Randy supposedly was really mad at Vince for making him say that on live TV when he was 100% against it. Like there is good heel heat and then there was... what Orton reluctantly did.

The HBK/Cena saga is false and a lot less interesting in reality. Triple H got injured so HBK stepped in. According to John Cena, HBK took Cena to school and gave him the best match of Cena's career. Being the amateur that Cena was, he extended his hand to shake HBK's which would've killed their angle. HBK being the pro that he is knew that they were going to keep working eachother so he refused the handshake. This was one of those moments where you could actually see how much HBK have matured because back in the 90s he used to love outshining the babyface and burying them in the process. By the end of his career, he really didn't mind doing the unethical thing, even as a babyface.
