DDP may be a walking billboard for himself, but there's no denying that he helped Scott and Jake. Even during the Kris Kanyon dark side you could see that Page genuinely tried to help Kris. I think he legitimately cares about people in his own weird way, even if he does put himself over a lot.

Anyone remember Beyond the Mat? First time I realised that all these larger than life characters I watched as a kid growing up are sometimes some really damaged people. The Jake Roberts parts were heartbreaking to watch. We all knew he had this dark persona on TV but when you watch this and realise why, its pretty hard to watch. And the Ric Flair ESPN 30 for 30 special where you realise that he basically lived his persona in real life and drank him self silly for about a decade but still managed to do some of his finest work in the ring. It's crazy to think.
@archilonshadowheart7

All of thats true, just add three more decades in Ric's case, no wonder his intestines just said no more, after his last big drink up. Jake baffled me completely, i never would of expected him to still be freebasing well into the 90's and possibly even to the early mid 00's whenever that indie circuit video of him finding his daughter was around.

Beyond The Mat was like finding an oasis back in the day. Wrestling fans were so starved of the backstage stuff. It also helped make Mick Foley an even bigger mega star, because it just made people love him and respect him even more for what he did for a living. I remember that time well. He was so over as the company's babyface underdog at the turn of the millennium. A perfect compliment to The Rock as 'The Guy'. I think Beyond The Mat did a lot of good for everybody to pull back that curtain.

I wouldn't say it was the birth of Jon Moxley, more like the rebirth. From the time The Shield split, it was obvious that they didn't have a clue what to do with the Ambrose character.He went from swearing gory retribution on Rollins to becoming a comedy dude who occasionally waved pompoms in Reigns' corner. And the entire heel turn was a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

There was one night I wanted to murder WWE cause they made Ambrose look like an idiot. It was that night 8nknew they didn't know how to tell good stories anymore. It was probably like 2015 I don't remember exactly. It was after the shield broke up and Roman was doing his one against all gimmick. Earlier in the night Ambrose was in a match and was attacked by Kevin Owens. A little bit after the match they have Ambrose cause it's promo but hes gonna do whatever he can to get his revenge on Owens. Later on in the night they have Roman in a one vs all match. All these people come down, he beats them and then we get Kevin Owens coming down as his next opponent. Then they heels start a beat down. This would be the perfect opportunity for Ambrose to a) get revenge and B) help his "brother". Does Ambrose show up to help him when the beat down starts? Nope! No Ambrose anywhere and I lost faith that day.

Not having the network/peacock I had no clue some of these documentaries existed. It does surprise me that with Liv and Keith Lee especially the video evidence is there to confirm what a lot of people have said for years about cancelling matches last minute and ruining someone's career because you can't figure out how to use someone. RVD I think embraced the change of direction headstrong took because he's a solid dude and had the opportunity to share his struggles and changes while it was happening and trying to cope with it. Vince buried himself with a few of these and it's sad. Most of us have heard these stories, but now we have video evidence of it.

Vince being the age he is, has given up too much of his control to others. A lot of the people fired, were never fired by Vince or through Vince, they were fired by his staff. I think you mean Kevin Steen and Claudio Castagnoli ;) I get your point, but so far, it's easier (and more accurate) to look at what AEW is doing as allowing indie performers to return to working in indie styles. And they aren't picking up everyone, either. When Vince said something along the lines of giving AEW all the talent they can handle, I got a little worried, but if you look at who AEW actually signs, it's mostly people who were stars on the indie circuit before they signed with WWE, even if a lot of people know them from WWE.

I can see why McMahon tried to block the release of that documentary. He really comes off as a f*ckin' slime in it. When I was watching it, I wasn't sure if he was in character or being legitimate and then I slowly realized that he doesn't either. The man is a puzzle that I don't think anyone should even try to figure out for the sheer sake of their own minds.

It's annoying how Vinnie Mac treated such performers like KO with such little regard just because they weren't jacked like the Warrior. Completely disregarding their other unique attributes that got them over in the first place

Bret Hart will always be the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Need proof? After the Montreal screwjob he managed to forgive at least Vince and Shawn. He's definitely a better man than me... but I guess that ain't saying much. Still though, Bret Hart will always be my favorite.

Something to think about..... let's say you work for me and you "earn" the Mike's job is the best job necklace and medallion but then you say I'm leaving to go work with Joe why on earth would you EVER think I'd let you leave with that necklace and medallion..... just think about it not a chance in hell I'd let you keep it so.... yeah
@h2ohydrox
@h2ohydrox 2 жыл бұрын
@@Da_Infamous absolutely a valid point. But what's missing from your analogy is that, while I'm still working for Mike, you want me to take a paycut, or maybe I should see if Joe's offer is still on the table. I don't want to leave, but I also don't want to take a paycut, and yeah Joe's offer is still on the table, so I'll go. And then you ask me to give the medallion to Karen before I go, in front of my friends and family. I really can't stand Karen, I don't think she's a good worker at all or deserves the medallion. So no, I'm not keen on doing that, either. I'll give the medallion to Mark if you want, that's fine, or I'll show up the day after I leave and just drop the medallion off. Then you can give it to Karen after I go. You respond by shooting down the Mark idea, but agree that I can come and just drop it off. The problem is that you're still sitting there, not sure if you believe that I'll just drop it off, worried I might take it over to Joe's, and who am I to tell you what to do with your medallion? So right in the middle of my farewell speech you have Earl pull the medallion from around my neck, put it on Karen, tell everyone she's now your best employee and then send everyone on their way. I'm angry because you lied to me, other colleagues have seen it and they are furious, and no one understands what the hell just happened. Vince had other ways to deal with the situation, but ultimately let ego get in the way.

People wonder "why" Ultimate Warrior hated interacting with his fans. The incident at an airport where a kid was bothering him, prompted Vince McMahon to "compel" Warrior to apologize to the kid, only fueled Warrior's refusal to engage with his fans. This in turn, caused Vince to take the World title strap from the hostile, "fan-unfriendly" Ultimate Warrior. Any pro wrestler, champion or not, who does not connect with his/her fans is done for. The reason that Lex Luger was never given the WWF World title is because he failed to connect with the fans with his "Made In the USA/Lex Express" gimmick. Any "babyface" World champion must be fan-friendly.

I’d say under the mat talking about Foley V Rock and showing how much that traumatizes foleys kids it’s pretty bad as well as the stuff with Jake the Snake. And depending on your opinion HBOs documentary on Andre the giant arguably exposed/showed Vince’s uncaringness towards Andre as hogan was becoming the man.

I don't remember what documentary it was: A jobber gets his break to appear on a WWE show and does well. Then immediately backstage I think JR told him someone said, or maybe JR said it himself, "Someone should steal that." Referring to the jobbers signature move. A month or so later fans realized a WWE regular did exactly that. For some reason I think it was something like the muscle buster.
