Coming to Malaysia for Holiday or Vacation?
Here are some tips about What not to Do in Malaysia,
10 things not to do in Malaysia on your holiday vacation to ruin your holiday here.
Malaysia is a high muslim populated country therefore there are certain rules and law to abide to when you are in Malaysia. These things not to do in Malaysia is just a precaution and warning for those whom have no expectations about Malaysia and being their First time to Malaysia.
Malaysia is a multicultural country and you will need to respect all kinds of different culture here of different religion basis. However, all these must not do is not obligated for you to follow as is all depends on the type of people you meet throughout Malaysia due to the different culture and different religion.
To All tourist, Welcome to Malaysia and to all Malaysians,
if I ever wrote anything you disagree with and I believe there will be some disagreements, do let me know. If you have anything to add in, do comment down here so tourist would know when they visit Malaysia. Or just comment to say Where are you from ! I would be curious to know ! Have a nice stay in Malaysia.

Airport Info HQ 1) You can kiss but not too much 2) It depends, none really cares honestly unless you think it's rude, then you can use your right hand 3) Yeah don't do that, unless they're your friends as a sign of a joke 4) Actually you can point your finger, just don't point your finger on strangers hahaha 5) Yeah touching the head is rude 6) You can wear clothes that shows skin but not too much 7) Well, of course you need to take of your shoes went going indoors

ada orang kata , jangan tekan kepala bayi kuat2 sbb tempurung kepala dia still tak kuat. Dan tumbesaran mereka akan terbantut klu byk tekanan pada kepala mereka. saya rsa bole ja pegang , utk usap2 kepala tu. jgn tertekan pula. klu org perempuan plk, jgn pegang kepala mereka sbb mereka bertudung😂 this will ruin kedudukan tudung tu😂

#5 is kind of funny for me. I live in Finland and in here we take shoes off at home anyway. Here also foreigners don't seem to understand that :) But it keeps floors clean and leaves no scratches. At church we go inside shoes on, but it's historical and practical because winter here is COLD, could be minus 20-30 degrees Celsius (-4F to -22F), lots of snow and shoes are must. Think old medieval stone church that has no heating ;) Okei, new ones are heated but that's the basis of it. But taking shoes off when going to temple is not a big deal :)

modesty is to look out for in Malaysia. but what pisses me off is the thought of catcalling and being assaulted in various ways, like it's disgusting and a shame. no matter how you wear; long/short sleeved, long/short pants, jubah or bertudung ke, makeup ke tidak. there will always be a disturbance who whistles and smooches for cheap attention. the one who are being catcalled AREN'T the ones to blame for what they wear, okay.

I still find it entertaining how in the East, it is considered more “upper class” to maintain a fair complexion but many in the West, prefer to be more on the tan side... There was a time that being fair skinned in the West was also desired because it meant you didn’t have to be outside doing manual labor, which a long time ago, meant you didn’t make much money. But when people started traveling to “exotic” locations where it was always sunny and would come back tanned, this started becoming associated with wealth because at the time, it meant you had the money to trave to these destinations.

1:39 I'm left handed so how the flip do I eat using my right hand?! Here's I use my hands. Left hand (write,eat,drink,hold and pretty much everything except the right hand) Right hand (Washing my butt ( yeah that's disgusting) and use to help my left hand) Living as a left handed person is a bit hard lol

Similar culture. Using left hand to eat or to write, is considered as rude behavior, especially at the front of seniors. Good videos. thanks

Shim-Ho Yi Writing left handed is not considered rude in Malaysia. Its a normal thing, and probably same goes to the entire world. However, although using your left hand to eat can be an odd view to the public, especially if you are Malay/Muslim, but its far from being rude. The reason is because we clean our butt-ox using our left hand after we're done with our number two. So using the same hand to eat is theoretically unhygienic. But then again, some people do that, and nothing is wrong with it.

I think the left hand thingy is passed down from the old times. Back in the old days people thought that lefties are influenced by the devil because it is less common, so parents will try to suppress the kid and train him/her to use right hand for the rest of their life. It is also the same reason why we shake with our right hand. An extra note in case of Malaysia though, I think there's an unwritten rule that people washes their backside with the left hand, so... :P

Very interesting video! I'm from Norway and I visited Kuala Lumpur a few years ago. My sister lived there for a while and got very good at shouting away scammy cab drivers with no meters xD I was told to always have shoulders covered so I'd wear t-shirts/tanktops with a long sleeve cardigan on top. And I was NOT prepared for the thunderstorms! lol. I had to run into a store and buy a new dress because the one I wore got drenched and a bit see-through :o

You can also point your finger with the index finger. It's not a problem. Usually, Muslim uses index finger to point at somebody or objects. You can use both of the thumb and the index finger but not the middle finger. It's not prohibited in Malaysia. It is called Sunnah which mean our prophet's way.

Right, let me point few things I think are wrong in your video: 1. You are allowed to touch people's heads. Culturally for Malay, it is a sign of love for the elderly (or older people) to place their hands on younger people's heads. However, it is considered rude and a sign of disrespectful if the younger ones place their hands on older people's head. Hehehe, when I was 7 years old, I accidentally put my hands on my teacher's head while she was sitting on the floor picking up papers. She did not say anything, but I still remember the way she looked at me. 2. Putting your hands on your own head is more inappropriate as much as putting your feets on your head. It is more something to do to respect your own head, being on the top and all, and it is not a place for your own feet or your hands to be there. It is like if your sitting on your own pillow which you normally put your head every night. Kinda weird you put your butt where your head gonna rest later. The same as putting legs on the a coffee table. In some culture, it is not appropriate as it is not what a coffee table for. 3. Most Malays don't care if you do this to your own families or your own pillows because most Malays, don't try to reinforce their own cultures to other races, like the Chinese don't reinforce their own to the other races as well. 4. Actually for public places, there are laws prohibiting people to be almost naked. It is distracting and disrespect to the public, not just the Malays. In my opinion, we Malaysians are not westerners, they have their own cultures, and I don't think we ought to embrace their cultures while living in Asian countries. I am sure, the Chinese also have their own cultures regarding what and what not to wear correct? Or are we forced to embrace western cultures and ideas that we forgotten our own and let this world to be a monolithic cultural place? One thing I like about Malaysia, it is the diversity and multiculturalism. I would thoroughly hate myself to live in a monocultural society. 5. In the video, you only mentioned the Mosque that need to be dress appropriately. Yes, majority of Malaysians are Muslim, however, the dress appropriately should be also applied to Hndu temples, Chinese temples, and also churches. Also in government offices as well, schools, Istana, or even going for an interview or at a work place ( unless you are working for certain jobs that require you to be naked or in bikini, but those things are illegal in Malaysia :D) Thanks for making this video. Kinda show us, or me at least, some Malaysians still does not know each other cultures. Not, just you, me as well to be honest. I don't know much of the Chinese and Indian cultures, al tho, I got friends back in school and in college. Hey, I still remember when a teacher (a malay btw) scolded the entire class for not showing respect and sympathy to one of our chinese classmates, when she was wearing a white cloth on her arm. Apparently she just lost her family members. Hey, Mei Lin, if you are reading this, sorry about that. We were completely oblivious and ignorance when we were in secondary school. Do you forgive us?

2 points that i need to put out. Malaysia is not a muslim country. Islam is just an official religion. Things bout people looking or even having an issue bout bikinis and stuff does not happen in the east part of Malaysia like Sabah and Sarawak. These 2 states are the most tolerent states in Malaysia be as religion or even cultural. Im a Malaysian myself who resides in Sydney. I love Malaysia. I like ur channel to. :)

+Mansur Alias yes i do know Islam is the official religion, you don't need to mention Sabah & Sarawak join up with west Malaysia. to say Malaysia is not a Muslim country that's wrong. isn't Malaysia ruled by Muslim king, Muslim leader & Muslim cabinet ministers? unless IF Malaysia is ruled by non-Muslim king, non-Muslim leader & non-Muslim cabinet minister. then you can say Malaysia is not a Muslim country.
@mansuralias274
@mansuralias274 7 жыл бұрын
Zainudin Zaidin Thats a shallow way on how you put it. Sabah and Sarawak has no Sultan. In the 63 agreement had mentioned that Islam is the official religion. It was agreed by the Borneons. Most of the semenanjung normally the Umno hardline forget bout this. And theres a lot of non muslim in the cabinet. Theres a lot of non muslim MPs as well. Islam is the official religion protected by Yang Di Pertuan Agung. East Malaysia does not need to follow this because the autonomy was agreed upon them as an equal partner to the west.
@zainudinzaidin3631
@zainudinzaidin3631 7 жыл бұрын
+Mansur Alias yes i know there's a lot non-Muslim in cabinet BUT there are many Muslims in cabinet MORE than non-Muslims. to put it simply Muslims are the majority in cabinet MORE than non-Muslim. yes i know Sabah & Sarawak have no Muslim king, but.... isn't Yang Di Pertuan Agong (the supreme king) a MUSLIM KING? isn't our prime minister a Muslim leader? you can't deny that Malaysia is a Muslim country.

@manonjann5896
@manonjann5896 6 жыл бұрын
Ashley Reinhardt Nah. I don't know who told this girl that but you can wear literally anything here. It's just that due to cultures/religions, not many people wear super revealing clothes so if you do, people would be mildly surprised, maybe widen their eyes a bit in shock, but that's it, LOL. I'm pretty sure you know that people anywhere tend to stare a bit if you wear something out of the norm. I wear niqab and people react that way with me, too. The same goes if you walk around in cosplay. Also, I disagree with the catcalling part. I've legit never seen anyone catcalling here before(except maybe the usual boys dicking around at school). Plus, no one would bother foreigners. It's common knowledge that we have different upbringing.
