According to the Marvel Comics adaptation of the 1977 film, Chewbacca DID get a medal after the battle of Yavin. It was just that Leia was not the one to drape it over his head - or, as the narrator of that comic put it, "Few space princesses are THAT tall." And that comic adaptation was not part of the Expanded Universe, so it's canon. Disney was just sloppy in doing their research.

Two points: 1, That wasn't Chewbacca's medal. It was Han Solo's medal that Leia was holding and that Maz gave to Chewie. 2, They never explained why the Skywalker lightsaber called out to Rey or how Maz Kanata obtained the lightsaber.

IMO Solo was better than many say, its certainly better than the last jedi, Skywalker, attack of the clones or phantom menace.Yes it has its problems and no one could ever really replace Harrison Ford but it is watchable IMO

Good writing is all we want. Enough with nostalgia baiting which is the ONLY thing they give us nowadays. Ever since the Force Awakens Star Wars has turned into complete shit story wise.

The problem is that fans create stories in their heads then they get disappointed because it is not what they imagined. They mostly get disappointed because the people who write the actual stories know absolutely nothing about the base of the saga .

I think that's why The Mandalorian show worked. They didn't give people what they expected, who expected a "baby Yoda", Boba Fett face turn, and here ya go have Luke in full badass mode.

I guess I am different. I love all the Star Wars movies and series. I just don't get caught up in all the details and just enjoy the movie at hand. I realized a long time ago, that things don't always work out in movies. Sometimes they forget where the last one ended and the new one began. I just love a good action/fantasy/adventure. I learned from my son (who bless his heart is totally to involved in the story) that if you are looking to close, you don't do anything but bash the movie and its content. Sure, I see mishaps, but I can let it go. If you dwell on nit picks, you want enjoy any movies. They all have quirks do they not. LOL!

The Book of Boba Fett could have worked if they went the Breaking Bad route and made him a super dark anti-hero. But he was so neutered and Disneyfied that he made for a dull, ineffectual and uninteresting crime boss.

Phoned in, half-hearted or creatively disjointed attempts at execution don't really qualify as "giving the fans what they want". Your critiques are largely spot on, but the list itself should be "times they attempted to give the fans what they wanted and failed".

At the MTV movie awards in 1997 Carrie Fisher gave Chewbacca a metal as a tongue and cheek nod to the fan outrage from ANH.

A couple of these points need to be clarified. Abrams didn't "reverse" Rey's backstory, he expanded on it. Kylo clarified what he said before and explained that Rey's father was a failed clone of Palpatine who went on the run. He and his wife gave up their previous identities and chose to BECOME nobodies so that Rey could be hidden away somewhere and kept safe, similar to how Luke and Leia were split up and hidden away to throw Palpatine off the scent. Alden's performance wasn't so much a recreation of the Han Solo we're familiar with, but much more of an evocation. There's a 10+ year gap between Solo and A New Hope, which means Han had most of his career still ahead of him. Most of the major events that shaped him into who he was when we meet him later still hadn't happened yet. Really all Solo was was a catalyst for how Han became a scoundrel when he wasn't one already.

Sadly you were soooo right about so much of that. Book of Boba was awful. Solo was boring(and sorry, but replicating Ford's solo swagger is near impossible). OBI-wan was good, but that should have been an absolute grand slam. I do love all the OBI/Vader interaction though. Sequels? Fugedaboudit. 7 was nearly plagiarism, but at least it restored the vibe. 8...... 100% managements fault. You DO NOT hire a director more interested in forging his own thing, than keeping with the lore. 9 was doomed from 8. The fact that they had the authors agree to a template for 9 book series', and didn't do that for something as huge as the sequels, is a joke. So far, Disney Wars did really good with Rogue one and The Mando. Good with OBI, but shoulda been great. Ok/meh with 7, screwed 8,9. Meh with solo. Boba is an abomination of a show. And why the hell do their TV shows look cheap, whereas GoT looks amazing. It shouldn't be that far apart in quality.

I liked the Book of Boba Fett, and Obi Wan Kenobi. The only gripe I have is bringing Palpatine back. That was just a hot mess.

No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans

The whole idea about Star Wars fans being so hard to please is off the mark. No one would have asked for the events of The Empire Strikes Back, but that is a great beloved film. The real reason Disney gave us a sidelined hermit, non-force using Luke and a sidelined R2 under a tarp, in the new trilogy, was to move them aside for the 100% Disney created characters/money-makers. Their moves seem more about accounting than storytelling. What we want is good original storytelling around our characters.

Solo is the second best of only 2 good Star Wars films from the Disney Era. The other is Rogue One. Solo felt more Star Wars-y than the other films too.

Conclusion: people will complain about anything.

I loved Obi Wan! You could tell they changed it to a series from a movie to allow them to cheep out on the editing, but what was left was still compelling.

Sometimes, you need to say No. I want to give Solo a try. I liked Starkiller base. I liked the theme of all of these people repeating old patterns. I liked no knowing "who" Ray was or Snoke. Sometimes people come in and go out and you never really know them. But I was under the impression that the person who said she'd been sold by junk traders was trying to hurt her. But whatever. I think some of the prequil could have been saved if they had leaned into just how creepy and awkward Anikan was.

These aren’t all things that all fans wanted. But you are mostly correct, particularly with regard to TROS, which clearly valued fan service and visuals over all else. The most glaring example of the latter: what in-story reason could there be for Rey to travel alone to Tatooine, a place Luke couldn’t wait to get away from and Leia had no real connection to? That binary sunset shot. That’s it. That’s the whole reason.

To this day I think they should have made Legacy of the Force into the latest trilogy instead of what we got, I read the series before any of the Force Awakens trailers came out since both were set at the same time period but I was very disappointed. IMO

This title is very misleading. They didnt give us what we wanted. They showed us the people and/or things that we wanted to see and then gave us garbage with those things.

7:22 People vs George Lucas flashback intensifies. (I hated that documentary btw, as many prequel fans like me).

I will never understand why Jake got hate for his play... I mean, I am not fan of Phantom Menace, BUT I don't see nothing wrong with little Anakin's dialogues or his arc here. (I also don't think it's bad movie... it's just not in my taste.) And I absolutely cannot comprehend that people were dissapointed in Hayden's Anakin in episode II. I mean... he is there very angsty, arrogant and full of negative emotions. You can see that he heads toward dark and evil side of his character slowly takes control over him. It's match perfectly with the fact he will be evil in future. I can understand that Anakin in 2nd movie is very divisive character. He is not very likeable character as person. I've always had sympathy for him, but at the same time - if Anakin was real person, I'm not sure I would want to be friends with him. I LOVE his story with Padme, however I agree this is kinda 'wrongshipping': I love the tragedy of their romance, but fully akcnowledge their love became toxic. At the same time, I love them as couple and see that he wasn't the best for her. All that being said - wheter I like Anakinor not as person (still cannot decide!), I still enjoy his journey as character. He, even as angsty teen, is still very complex and I like this concept. Anakin wasn't suppose to be likeable - or at least, not the way Luke was. He was meant to be both symphatetic and antypathetic at the same time. If people who were disapointed had expected instead someone PERFECT then... well, they seemed to forget about who Anakin will become. Some peope say that story may be more interesting if Anakin is episode I was bit older. Well... I see that point and agree. But this is question 'what if' from the same kind like "what if Lucas didn't make Leia Luke's sister". So I can only accept 9 year old Anakin and move on to rest of the 2nd and 3rd of the prequels, which both have special place in my heart.
