I actually remember having an argument with an American on a message board around the time Jericho and Benoit were being billed as being from America. I pointed out that when they are heels they are Canadian, when they are faces, they come from America. He absolutely shot me down, saying I was being ridiculous and it did not matter where they came from. I asked him then why is it so important to WWE seeing as they are the ones doing it. He just kept ranting about foreigners being overly sensitive etc etc which just reinforced exactly why people have an issue with it.

Nobody remembers that booker didn’t need to win because the week before book pinned hhh and the segment after it was flair trying to give hhh a pep talk saying booker couldn’t beat him cuz he’s hhh. Then hhh put booker over with a sentence saying “nobody told booker T that!” One of the best lines I ever heard from the game

The disappointment of the Invasion Angle still sticks to me... however, some of it was not the WWE's fault. Think about the top guys in WCW at the time... Flair, Steiner, Sid (I know, right?), Sting, Goldberg, Hall, Nash, Hogan, Rey Mysterio... and NONE of those wanted to be a part of it. Sure, you still had DDP and Booker T, and they both got pretty fucked pretty hard pretty quick, but how threatening is Kidman and Kanyon going to be? When they did the ECW split, I got excited about it, only to be disappointed again. 2001 was a rough year...

The Radicals lost all three matches on Raw because Eddie broke his arm in the tag team match, and had to be pinned to end the match. The original plan was for them to beat the new age outlaws, leading to Triple H facing Benoit to break the 1-1 tie in matches that night.

I remember the match between the New Age Outlaws ans Eddie & Saturn. The only reason N.A.O. won was because Eddie dislocated his elbow when he Frog splashed Road Dogg. You can actually see it happen if you watch carefully. His whole are just pops right out at the elbow. DX vs WCW was supposed to end in a no contest - a draw - but with Eddie getting hurt in ring they decided to let DX sweep them clean. It wasn't something planned or even neglected. It was a freak accident that led to a going no where story. The feud was supposed to be the four horsemen - radicalz vs DX. But that's how that turned out.

There’s a fantasy rebooking series on Reddit where the following happen - 10 - Ryback gets an Intercontinental title reign early, losing it to Big E at Survivor Series 9 - The Radicalz actually dominate and implode after Guerrero turns on Benoit following Guerrero’s jealousy of Benoit being IC Champion. 8 - The Orton/Rollins scenario still happens - but Orton still turns on Rollins 7 - Seth still returns, but not as a heel and tells Roman he wants the title back 6 - Christian and Lance Storm still hold the tag team titles, but the Unamericans NEVER happens 5 - The Nexus ACTUALLY win, Daniel Bryan doesn’t get fired and holds the US title, and they dominate with Cena getting storyline fired and STAYING AWAY until he returns, wins the Royal Rumble (it’s not a 40 man) and beats Wade Barrett at Wrestlemania 27 for the WWE title. 4 - Booker ACTUALLY wins the WHC and we get a rag to riches story with no racist undertones. 3 - No love triangle. Angle doesn’t pursue Stephanie and instead wins the WWF Championship via some cheating. 2 - Bayley wins the belt at Wrestlemania 33 - and loses it to Alexa Bliss at Extreme Rules in a Ladder Match, NOT a Kendo Stick on a Pole Match. 1 - WCW wins the Invasion at Survivor Series, ECW isn’t involved (except for Rob Van Dam joining), Stone Cold DOES NOT turn heel, the NWO, Ric Flair and Goldberg are part of the invasion as well, and WCW loses at Wrestlemania 18 when it’s announced that which company gets the most wins, they’ll have full control. Stone Cold beats Hulk Hogan (No Rock vs Hogan - Rock is beat by Goldberg) to win the WWF title and makes the results 6-5 to WWF. Makes sense, right?

Why do so many people refer to 'The Invasion' as WWF vs WCW ? It was WWF vs WCW vs WCW/ECW !!! The dream matches included wrestlers from ECW as well as WCW (albeit not as many). Not mentioning ECW leaves out a major, indeed intrigul, part of the story line.

The Invasion storyline and the HHH-Booker T storyline were screwed up for the same reasons. Vince never intended to put anyone from WCW over anyone from WWE. Triple H and Booker T also happened during the Triple H reign of terror.

#1 is a little off to me. First it wasn’t JUST Goldberg that they couldn’t bring in straight away for the obvious reasons of the Time Warner contracts, it was most of the huge names. Aside from Booker T & DDP who were they able to bring over that would have been seen on the same level as guys like Rock, Austin, Trips? And bringing in the HUGE names probably wouldn’t have been worth it when you consider how low WCW ratings were at that time with those same stars. It definitely would have been huge, but IDK if it would have been huge enough to make it worthwhile

According to Bruce Prichard, WWE had FAR grander plans for the acquisition of WCW, but it was the reality of contractual issues that largely kept the invasion angle from being what it could've been, rather than outright mishandling of talent and storylines.

The reason they billed Jericho and Benoit as being from America had to do with them bringing in Hirohito at that time. They wanted big babyfaces to feud with him but they didn't have any good American babyfaces at the time because of injuries so they changed where Jericho and Benoit were from. Then Hirohito got scrapped and nothing happened.
