A gay mother is different than someone's biological mom. A gay mother is usually an individual who "adopts" other LGBT children who were often kicked out by their birth parents. These mother figures support gay youth just as any mother should. The guy in the clip was likely referring to this type of person. He likely doesn't mean that he's going to call his birth mom who is a lesbian.

Often times, especially immigrant or generally old school parents, had their displays or communications of affection rejected by their close ones or care givers, so its easier for them to play it cool and act like it doesnt stir them up a bunch. My dads like that, but i know how much it means to them, and underneath it fills their broken heart to the brim.

Gosh, it's so weird how three little words can make such difference in someone's life. I've been crying for the past 10 minutes just watching people tell other people that they love them and thinking about my personal life and how hard of a time I have saying that to anyone. I relate a lot to that girl at 3:04 and her relationship with her father. I don't even remember when was the last time I told him that I love him and that makes me feel sad because I do love him, even with all his flaws and I feel like he doesn't feel that I do.

My mom grew up in a family where they rarely said “I love you” but will instead show it. My dad grew up in a similar environment. I don’t think I have ever heard my mom and dad say “I love you” to any of my brothers and sisters, but they 100% show it. I want to change that in the future for my kids

When I was in Cardiff university my girlfriend broke up with me and I was a heartbroken guy. I had one friend named Helen Williams, we were very close although she is 100% gay. On valentines day she called me and said I'm just calling to tell you I love you. Then she took me out for the evening and danced with me. I knew that she just did this not because she fancied me but because of pure love and she did not want to see me feeling lonely and hurt. It helped a lot and I never forgot that kindness. Years later we lost touch but she was a friend I'll never forget - and I would have married her if she had been that way inclined!

I thought the same thing. I recently read a book on this topic and it emphasized how good it is for people to listen and say "I love you" every time you feel it. It will never be a waste to repeat it if it is said when it really is meant. The human being is normalized to keep his feelings or feel ashamed when showing them, but the truth is that it should not be this way because the power of the phrase "I love you" can make people very happy. You already saw it in the video :)

I grew up in a family thay wasn't very affectionate. I can count on one hand how many times my dad told me he was proud of me let alone love me. Meanwhile I have never heard my grandparents say it let alone display affection like love.

I'm bawling because the first person that came to mind was my best friend that passed away 11/09/21 after losing his battle with depression. Please, PLEASE tell your people you love them. Let them know they have a whole tribe behind them... There were so many signs I didn't catch until it was too late... I cannot stress enough how important your attention is to their state of mind. Malcolm, I love you. I'm so sorry I couldn't pull you out of it. Just know that I think about and grieve over you every single day. You were so incredibly strong. I truly hope that you're at peace, floating weightlessly in space. Until we meet again babes. 🤟

Yeah, watching this video I actually cried to. I never do. But realizing how important it is to show people around you that you love them is just wow. I've probably not told my dad, that I love him in over year. It's weird but I just, I wonder what he is thinking, why I never say it. He didn't even have a dad himself who said I love you. Can't even imagine how hard that would be

This has been a huge topic lately with friends. I’ve always said I love you to people I genuinely feel it towards even if they don’t say it back. Most of my friends, especially those who aren’t comfortable with it, have attributed to the fact that I’m so open it allowed them to start saying it openly too. Love is what makes the world go round. Never forget it.

@@user-ef1qy9zq1g I dont know if what you say is true and i dont really care either, but boys are definitely taught not to cry. Many people choose to ignore or dont want to admit that men are taught to have been responsible and strong for ourselves as well as for women who are more vulnerable. And showing emotions is in general seen as a weakness. Just look at movies. The most badass characters are the ones that show no emotions. Or when boys fall and cry, they are usually told to 'man up', not be a girl etc. And thats just facts.

Well when it’s the first thing you say in a phone call it can be a little off putting, especially from someone who doesn’t say it often. “I love you” usually comes at the end of the call. 🙂

tell people that you love them. tell people that you love them as often as you can. call them or text them or comment it on their instagram posts. don’t let the fear of rejection or being ignored stop you from sharing all of the love you have to give. tell people you love them, and i promise that some of them will listen, and some will say it back. not everyone, but the people that matter.

Everyone knows that one person, and honestly I feel bad I didn't immediately think of my family. The person I did think of is someone who helped get me through some crap in the past 3 months, who isn't my family, is my friend. He has this thing he calls "Bro code" that whenever someone needs it it' s okay to say "I love you". We would be texting, and the second I would not respond or say something like "Ack" or "Mon dieu" when something that wasn't funny was being said, he would ask if I was okay, and would call right after, and say "Love you". He's done that more than once. There are days when I'm breaking down and he can't call he would send several "I love you" 's . I always struggled to say it back as I always thought he was using that word so lightly.... So yeah, that's who I would call. Who would you?

I like the people calling their grandparents cause I know how much grandparents love that. My grandma keeps all the messages I leave her I actually get to meet my grandparents for lunch this weekend and at 35 I’m so incredibly privileged to still have them around.

One of the most important lessons I've learned is to say "I love you." to your family, friends, whoever, when you can because life is short and you never know when yours or someone elses may end.. so try to always end on a positive note and with no regrets. This video made me tear up. Love is love.
