On October 12, Greenpeace held a protest action in Paris against the import of 1000 tons of reprocessed uranium from France into Russia. Activists call it a waste and demand to ban the transformation of Russia into a nuclear dump. Rosatom and the French company Orano, which have signed the contract, claim that they are talking about the supply of raw materials for the manufacture of fuel for the nuclear power industry in Russia. Russia has already used more than 2,500 tons of recovered uranium for the fuel of RBMK reactors. And they produce their own reprocessed uranium, as well as provide services for its enrichment in the city of Seversk.
We will understand in the video what regenerated uranium is, how it differs from spent fuel, why it is transported from France to Russia, and why it causes such a reaction in our country.
