Just want to let you know that I have learned a great deal from your videos. You are a great teacher with your methods of explanation. Have passed your name onto my classmates in pottery class also. LOVE the vases with black underglaze wiped back!

Hi Lois, on the plaques, I've been told, by someone far more experienced than i, that firing in the center of the kiln (not top or bottom shelf) and with at least on, if not two elements exposed to the shelf will help prevent cracks. Also, a fully/tightly packed kiln will help, as it helps keep the heat more even. Great kiln load, and I love the tape resist. But that big bowl/platter is the star of the load! And the wedding vases are spectacular!

again and again you are wonderful! I'll be trying to get a painterly look to some bud vases I'm making that have been textured with natural elements in about 2 weeks.

Bahahaha!....ABSOLUTELY LOVE the mannequin in the back of the shop! Well, THAT FLAT DISH...GORGEOUS! I also like the idea of the geo-mugs! Congrats on getting your etsy and website going for shipping. I am almost done too and I think you can agree, it is a tonneau of work, so again...congrats! Nice opening!

that black and white botanical slab work is stunning. Could you do a video demo? really, really special!

I have bought a slightly different clay a UK scarva clay called ES5 which has a slight grog and is designed for slab building. The two I have made befor have cracked so I need to do another one to see if I can do it without issue. Also middle of the kiln was suggested. Do you want me to do a slab or a vase?

It’s beautiful but I was told never to fire flat pieces on the top or bottom 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is very interesting as I have fired them all in the top shelf.

What firing temperature are you using,do you use a holding time?

I’m using a skutt KT 1018. I am using the one with preset options. So I have to be honest I am using the computer on the kiln. Some times I do a slow fire if I have large pieces but this caused a lot of glaze runs so ideally I use a cone 6 which is a hot cone 6 with the skutt and no hold.
