Talk to anybody that owns one, 90% of the time they love them. As you get older, you will care less about performance and more about the ride. If you just want to be out on a casual care free ride DCTs fit that perfectly. and they are really nice in traffic from what I have been told. Additionally, Manufacturers spend a fortune on market research. They RARELY make stuff that may not have a demand. In these new models, its pretty obvious, they think the demand is there.

I've been riding since 1966, and have recently developed periferal neuropathy in both feet. Without the option of an auto, I would not be able to continue riding, hence my change from MT09 SP, to the Honda NC750X DCT. The DCT is a fantastic system, and the more manufacturers that enter the market the better, as far as I am concerned.

It’s the future of motorcycles. Purists will need to cope and adapt. No one says they have to buy one. But for people like you and for people who just want to ride it’s a great thing. It gets more people riding, and purists don’t want to admit participation in this hobby is waning severely.

Nope. New VFR800-1000 would be useless on a modern market: too expensive and heavy vs. it's competitors - just like the last VFR800F was 10 years ago. New VFR1300-1400F would also proably fail on the market because sport tourers are unpopular nowadays. New VFR1300-1400X Crosstourer, on the other hand, are very much needed. Adventure bikes are the hottest class of motorcycles nowadays, selling like crazy. But for some inadequate reason Japanese manufacturers are totally ignoring top segment of adventure bikes in recent years. This needs to be changed ASAP.

I'd like to see a slightly more road biased Tenere, with 19" front, tubeless rims and powerful brakes. Bikes have been shrinking for two decades, give us tall riders something with Japanese reliability and backup that isn't overly compromised by the daft idea that these adventure bikes are spending most of their time off road. Radial calipers allow the swapping of different diameter discs with a simple spacer, so why not offer two versions that have interchangeable parts according to what the primary use is? KTM figured this out long ago with their 690 enduro and supermoto models.

Yeah I've changed my mind on the ever increasing of amount of torque. I bought a 2022 Heritage with a 114 motor and was riding it around town the other day. It has a lot of torque and that much torque just isn't that great for cruising around town. It doesn't have any kind of modes such as rain mode for a little less torque. If you don't use a lot of caution on the throttle you will be rocketed way too fast on city streets. I was thinking I would have been happier with a 107 instead. Yes that is still a bit punchy but probably not as much. It would still provide plenty of power on the interstates. This 114 along with the lighter weight of the Heritage makes it a true hot rod. If anyone, who has driven a hopped up car with a bigger cam, around town you know what I mean. These tip of motors are happier being pushed hard, not piddling from stop light to stop light. Bike manufacturers are trying to attract more riders with automatics while also increasing engine cc's. It just doesn't make since to me. I have just as much or more fun on my smaller 400 cc displacement bike. It is perfect around town and quit capable on the highways at 70 mph. The Heritage is a great, one bike owner in that it can do it all except off roading but mind that throttle hand around town with a 114.
@pauln6803
@pauln6803 8 күн бұрын
Torque is not a bad thing, the issue is how torque and power are delivered. The big KTM V LC8 engine is fantastic on the open road, but because it was designed as a sports engine with a huge bore and short piston stroke, it's inherently aggressive as it was designed to deliver as much power as possible, with the throttle mapping taming it enough to keep it sort of usable. If an engine has a longer stroke, the delivery can be more easily tamed but still retain the flexibility of a big engine. Power modes (changing the ignition and fuelling maps) offer the rider the choice between soft throttle response for low speed and more power and quicker response for more aggressive riding.

It is, or was, a raw driving experience, everything you do affects how the bike behaves unlike the sanitised and mind numbing feeling of driving a modern car. The reasons why Auto gearshift is a focus are simple….first, the tech is at the point where it works, second, not all buyers are enthusiasts, some buy for transport and as auto becomes way more popular in cars, so it will in bikes…and finally, the real reason… conditioning. In both cars and bikes, get us used to auto now ready for auto in electric. Conditioning.

Some of the interest in the new automatic transmission motorcycles derives from the current (under 40) generation, most of whom never learned to drive a standard transmission auto. This translates to motorcycles, thus the demand for automated shift motorcycles.

I don’t care what all the grumpy purists say, I’d personally love to cruise around on an automatic MT-07 or R7 and just enjoy the ride and the day and the experience and the people.

I'm suprised automatic transmission haven't been developed sooner. I've met quite a few riders who have lost, fingers, hands and even whole arms and have to put all the controls on one side. However, I suspect this surge in Autos isn't for them but for new riders who would otherwise be filter out of the market by poor coordination or intimidation. I feel the automatic transmission will be to motorcycles what electric assist is to bicycles: opening to door to more riders (customers). Perhaps the research shows that more people would transition from scooteds to full motorcycles if they were just as easy to rided.

A highly inflammable lithium iron battery located in the centre of a fuel tank ? What could possibly go wrong ?
@motosnape
@motosnape 8 күн бұрын
It's probably a similar level of risk to a fuel tank perched on top of a set of ignition coils, which in turn is perched on top of a device that keeps several thousand explosions per minute contained🤔

@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 5 күн бұрын
@@eggnog52 It's largely not, until it converts to a vapor. All a battery has to do is have a bunch of energy jump from the cathode to the anode through a "leak" in the electrolyte, and suddenly intense heat happens and a runaway battery burn begins, which half the Pacific Ocean cannot quench. Why? any good Boy Scouts training says you need heat, fuel, and oxygen to have fire. Turns out a lithium battery generates its own fire ingredients when it burns, thereby typical fire extinguishing methods being totally ineffective.
