Great interview. Interesting you work with Powerpoint -- let me ask, do you ever use VBA to automate the (any) process? I started my career by using Excel years ago, and it got to a point where I needed to constantly churn out presentations to all levels of personnel...screw it, scripted the Powerpoints. Let me tell you, taking a HUGE deck and compressing 8-10 hours of work to 20-30 seconds is a serious benefit. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Ash, I'm very impressed with your company and hope you don't mind that I sent a request to you via LinkedIn. While I deal almost exclusively with data management, reporting, and automation for customers, you're certainly someone I'd like to keep professional contact with, given that I'm aiming for a 2022 move to Chiang Mai. Cheers on a job well done!

in reverse im a thai who spent 12 years in UK and im listening to you guys with great interest. while most of your observations are quite spot on and provide a great insight, i just feel the need to remind everyone watching that most of it are drawn from the perspective and experience of a foreigner, which is what your intention is im sure, however, to some people this could be misconstrued that thais see things from the same/similar perspective. for example, as locals, we experience immense level of road rage among ourselves, generally foreigners would be spared from it. thais are extremely extroverted (look at all the photo snapping and large gatherings in restaurants) and introverted thais have a hard time existing and would be pre-judged and asked if they are ok if they are found to be behaving 'introvertedly' - if you are a foreigner, it dont matter what you are, locals generally leave you to it, hence what ash said about having complete freedom, i think for you guys, that's really the case, but it doesnt really apply to the locals. but all in all i enjoy hearing your perspective and experience, and i hope your stay in thailand continues to bring you lots of great memories.

What an amazing story and how refreshing it is to see that there are still farangs who genuinely fall in love with a thai woman and create a family based on love and mutual respect. I met my wife 13 years ago out of the blue in Pattaya. I wasn't looking for love after being put aside quite brutally, but got it thrown into my lap and 13 years later we are still together and going strong. In that aspect I can relate to Ash and the relation with his wife quite a bit. I also find it amazing how Ash built up his business but not only that, the fact his wife is 100% in charge of the company is proof that marriage can be a blessing and there are good women out there on which you can build and trust your life with. I think my wife is just that kind of person, she never asked me for a dime and probably never will, she is my absolute number 1 in life. So now I'm looking to finally migrate from Belgium to Thailand. I'm in the proces of selling my property and my business. A very hard but in my opinion a necessary decision giving the current economic and political situation in Europe. I'm not keen an tearing down what I have built up, but better leave on a high rather than waiting for the ship to sink entirely. I watched several videos of people that moved to Thailand and make a living there but I couldn't relate to any of them until this one. It gives me hope in believing there just might be a future for us in Thailand as well as long as we do things right. I'm not looking to get rich, I just want to make a living for ourselves without being a slave of my own existence. Living at a slower pace and have more time for ourselves is the main goal and something that my wife has earned 100 times over.

The end of your interview starting a biz: My advice---- get a Thai manager [not a girl from a bar]?. This is the most vital & important step starting any business in Thailand. Most foreigners can't read or write Thai. If you dont have a Thai Manager & its hard to get someone to trust, you are doomed before you start. Thats how I started & the advice came from a very wealthy CM Thai I went to school with. I still own my business 28 yrs later & don't even live in Thailand?? & still have the Thai Manager.,
