@@flyhigh.higher8814 Do you really want the spoiler? If so then...SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . No, she ends up with the dark haired cat boy. In the manga she does, anyway. The anime, like I mentioned, kind of made up an ending because the manga wasn't finished yet at the time. But canonically, she ends up with the cat boy (she ends up with him in the future when they're both older).

I mean, MLB was created in the same studio that Sailor Moon was, and it was originally gonna become an anime but the spots got too hard to animate on ladybug so they went with 3D animation. I think MLB is heavily inspired on Sailor Moon, with chat noir being like tuxedo mask and ladybug being like sailor moon, and the villain creating monsters is basically the same concept. I think they could have been inspired by this as well tho, to make a more interesting show.

Nevermind, I just did a little bit or research and I'm sure MLB was based off of Sailor Moon. Shugo Chara was also a copy of Sailor Moon so, it really doesn't mean anything if they 'ripped off Shugo Chara' because the studio that made Sailor Moon contributed in making MLB.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similarities X3 And it makes sense that the anime for Shugo Chara dragged things out a bit. I know some manga to anime transitions like to do that to meet episode quotas (especially magical girl anime where they could easily make it a "monster of the week" type show). But admittedly, I don't remember ever being frustrated about that. I was just along for the ride because the story was cute, the problems relatable, and the characters super fun. MLB right off the bat has frustrations relating too the reveal, slow character development, and the love square, so I don't even want to get involved in that X'D Still sad about the Chloe situation TT^TT

MLB feels like an anime. Even the style is kind of like an anime even though it’s 3D. I would say they should’ve kept it as an anime but the Shugo Chara plagiarism accusations would probably be a lot more prominent if they did lol.

Yeah, it was really popular. France is even the second country who consums the most anime after Japan. It wouldn't be unlikely that Astruc saw some of Shugo Chara. Whether he or his team were influenced could be debated, but isn't unlikely at all. (In my case, it kind of got one of my friends trying to make her own manga, which was heavely inspired by Shugo Chara, but, it still was very different, and I loved it. Unfortunately, she didn't try to publish it, but I guess there could have been problem, with how evident the inspiration was)

The manga is better than miraculous ladybug but I thought the anime didn't live up to the manga because they changed it to be more about fighting x characters than the protagonists.

@@bunnyrabbitlives That makes sense. The anime probably wanted to stretch the story out so they added more "monster of the week" scenarios to make the show last longer. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though because the characters and everything were so likeable and I wasn't frustrated about anything. But I can totally understand if someone just wants the story to move forward. So people should definitely read the manga for the optimal experience! ^0^

Well duh. This show had its chance of an ending while miraculous is still going on without a closure yet. So I would say it is a little unfair to say an already one-and-done show is "ten times better" than a show that hasn't had its ending. And no, I don't think miraculous ladybug is a 'masterpiece' hence why I am defending it. It had lots of good ideas which was wasted potential at the end of the day.

Yeah, technically you can't quite compare them since SC is done and all plot lines seen through to completion while MLB is still in the middle of its story. HOWEVER, when I was in the middle of watching SC, I didn't feel frustration in reveals or relationships or storylines in the same way I feel towards Miraculous so... haha It's both a fair and unfair statement lol But I do agree with the last statement. MLB has good ideas, but wasted potential X(

Amu also recognizes that she has personality flaws. Amu had similar problems that I had with trying to figure out who I was. She was so relatable for me and was one of my favorite characters for a while. In fact, the whole idea behind Shugo Chara is super relatable since its all about discovering your true self. Super super cute show/manga. Adrien and Ikuto definitely have their similar family drama. At the very least, they gave them different personalities. Then again, when Adrien is Cat Noir, he is super flirty like Ikuto is lol Thanks for watching and commenting! ^_^

Marinette has been changing in season 4. And Adrien is noticing Marinette slowly, while it isn't yet adrien in love with Marinette he has shown some interest more than just a friend he just haven't consciously acknowledged it yet. Yes it's silly but sometimes that's how life is silly misunderstandings or miss chances. Self inflicted pain due to shyness.

@@liakominazuma808 I think the bigger problem is how long all of this is taking. Sure, in real life, if you arent straightforward, getting your crush to notice you can take a while. But this is a show where you have to consider the pace of the story. It just doesn't feel like it should have taken this long for things to happen between them. Marinette should have long since gotten used to being around Adrien and not being so shy and giggly and stuttery. Those things go away when you have enough exposure to the object of your affection. It does seem like in Season 4 she's a little less stalkery and obsessive (although knowing his schedule for the next 3 years is SUPER sus), the problem isn't so much that she has the flaw. The problem is that people rarely call her out on them. Adrien is a little less frustrating as he technically can't know that someone has feelings for him unless he's directly told. But at the same time, he's been treating Marinette differently than every other girl since the beginning including slow dancing with her romantically multiple times. He is oblivious, but I'm gonna chalk that up to poor social cue recognition due to his lack of socialization while growing up. Even then, he could have had help a while ago via Nino on how to pick up on social cues like that, but we can't do that for some reason. 4 (plus) seasons is too long to string along this plot point (as well as the reveal plot point) and is frustrating to a lot of people. I hope all of that makes sense haha If you're happy with the progression of Marinette's character as well as the Adrienette progression, then cool! But hopefully what I wrote helps you understand why some people are frustrated by it.

@@TheArtisticAloubell I think there's a few reasons that the progression is so slow. The creators of the show chose to go with the traditional cartoon format and not the traditional anime format of a children's show. So all hints at Romance is slow progression almost to the point of delaying progression of romance. Also I've wondered if the reason they delay it is because they want to improve Marinette personal first; and have Adrien figure out that he doesn't see Marinette as just a friend. So far the main problem with Marinette is that she herself is so blinded by her love for Adrien that she cannot see past her own feelings. Luka was very straightforward about his feelings is the only reason Marinette could even dare to really notice his feeling as Marinette although she liked Luka is still very blinded by her own feelings, she had to give up on her feelings for Adrien somewhat to even admit outwardly her feelings for Luka, although very flawed because she still isn't able to give up on Adrien, she only accepts that Adrien and Kagame are dating. While she like Luka a lot she is still blinded by her own feelings for Adrien. One/a few kind acts Adrien did was more impactful to her to the point of causing blind love overdrive. Sorry thought a little bit all over the place.

@@liakominazuma808 The problem is that the romance isn't even slow progression. Progression implies that things change. But very often, the status quo goes back to being the same even after a romantic event happens. Even if they wanted a slow burn, there should be a distinct change in interactions between them after new developments happen. I know doing something like that can be tricky when you want to make a show that both has a chronological story but also with enough stand alone episodes to where anyone can watch it at any time, but the way they're doing it just aint it. It's frustrating as 4 seasons in Marinette should be almost to completely comfortable around Adrien. I do like Luka and his personality. He breaks up the frustration. Too bad Adrigami and Lukanette lasted all of 10 minutes >.> It would have been good development for Adrienette. Oh well. Thanks for the thoughtful comment! ^_^

For sure they share a lot of tropes with other magical girl shows--I just wanted to point out how specifically similar these two shows are given that not EVERY magical girl anime/manga is the exact same X3 I'm aware of the spots problem--I still feel like SOMETHING could have been done with the 2D. Oh well, I suppose >.>

I call bullshit on the spots thing! 3D animation is far cheaper than 2D, since you only need to make the models once and animate 20+ episodes using the exact same assets you already paid for, contrary to 2D animation where you have to pay for each drawing made. The spots thing is just an excuse, since they could use off-model drawings during movement heavy scenes (no need to track the spots then, just look at the best sakuga moments in Precure and you'll see everything is off-model; even Danmachi had a fight scene where the chains in one of the Amazoness warriors was just a bunch of yellow lines because of all the movement she was doing), or even changed her design to better fit the animation method. 3D was not used because of Ladybug's spots, it was used because the executives involved didn't want to dish out more money on the project! 3D is a lot cheaper and that was the likely reason for the shift in art style!

@@westanzhonglihere2391 The sakuga moments do not happen often, but they are not exactly rare either. There are a few examples on youtube (mainly because Precure is kinda obscure in the West, despite its popularity in Japan), but they illustrate how well animated some of the fights are. Look up for "DBZ SFX - Precure". It's a series of videos where the audio is edited out and DBZ sound effects are put in place instead. The guy behind these videos used several clips from the series, all sakuga fight scenes. I believe he has 14 of these videos for Precure alone. The character designs are made with merchandise and animation in mind, so they are not complex in nature, but very visually appealing and easily identifiable. The show is called Precure for short, started in 2004 with "Futari wa Pretty Cure" and has since been releasing one iteration a year, around 40-50 episode each, with a different cast for each new season. It's a magical girl show about middle school girls who fight evil like it's freaking DBZ (and are animated by the same studio responsible for DBZ as well)!

Oh yeah, 100%. I also agree that Shugo Chara is higher in quality story wise and character development wise. Even when characters in Miraculous do get development, it either takes too long to happen, gets ignored, or gets rejected, which is truly frustrating. Yeah, The Kwamis remind me of the chibi you see in Yumeiro Patisserie as well. It’s just common to have tiny flying friends that help you throughout the mc journey. Even Winx has that. However, I do think they had to take some kind of inspiration. Maybe they were looking for it or the people who worked on it actually likes Shugo Chara. The cat boy or girl is pretty common too, but I do think that it seems really inspired still

Haha I'm glad I sparked a memory about Shugo Chara! X3 Shugo Chara is definitely an anime I would watch again if I had the time. The concept was so cute and unique and it was my first exposure to magical boys working with magical girls. I related so much with Amu as well. Its by no means a masterpiece, but it's a fun ride x3 Oh believe me, i plan on keeping a healthy distance away from Miraculous. I get enough spoilers from Instagram and fanfiction that I know enough of what's happening without watching the show. It has such a neat concept but they are so clumsy with it. The animation really does bug me X'D I'm somewhat used to seeing stills of it, but it's just not my cup of tea. It's not the type of CG that makes exaggerated facial expressions look nice. When they try to look exaggerated, it looks weird (imo). 2D would have fit the show better, I think. And yeah, the kwamis do look weird and creepy sometimes too XD Yay! Someone else who loves reformed villains! Zuko is great and so is Sesshomaru (he definitely had the most character development in the show X3)

Many magical girl anime take some inspiration from Sailor Moon as Sailor Moon is probably the most influential magical girl anime. However, when it comes to Shugo Chara, aside from the school girl main character, transformation sequences, animal sidekick, and fighting bad guys who make monsters, all which are quite generic magical girl wise, Shugo Chara does its own thing and barely resembles Sailor Moon. Likewise, MLB closer resembles the little nuances that Shugo Chara has than it does Sailor Moon (because again, almost all magical girl anime take some inspiration from SM, even if its only 1% inspiration). But just as someone else said, not all magical girl anime are copies of Sailor Moon.

@@April-dq3il XD I used to think the exact same thing LOL However, I read recently that, like MLB, the Sailor Soldiers have a sort of cloaking technology that makes them look more...foreign and alien when they are in their magical girl forms. Oh wow I completely forgot that Utau had a butterfly motif going on with her lol And season 2 of Shugo Chara (or, the season with the mystery eggs...whichever season that was) seems to really mirror Miraculous in a lot of ways making it seem like MLB really got inspired by that season lol I don't mind that Miraculous was inspired by it, I just want the writers/creators to acknowledge it to give Shugo Chara its due recognition. @@TheArtisticAloubell Agreed! Shugo Chara is a good anime, and is very entertaining. I wish most people knew about it, as there aren't really many others like it out there. (Except MLB of course). No one felt cartoonishly evil or anything like in MLB, as they all had their own motivations and reasons for doing what they did. For example; Chloe is evil, annoying, and awful, and the only excuse they give is an absentee mom. But Utau was being evil due to being manipulated, forced into showbiz, and she just wants her brother to be free from being used as a puppet against his will. Again, I like both shows. I just wish Shugo Chara was given the props it deserves.

@@sophieb5537 One thing that really bugs me about Miraculous is that almost all of the good guys are the same flavor of "nice" in their personalities which is kind of annoying and blah. In Shugo Chara, the guardians are all nice, but they have different levels of attitude or sass and they have very distinct personalities which are a pleasure to watch. I agree about Shugo Chara being unique! It's unfortunate how it has been overshadowed by newer magical girl anime, but I still think its a real gem and definitely a good time =)

Back then around 2016 I think when I first heard about miraculous, hawkmoth in his lair, peeps transform into enemies coz of negative emotion, hero in secret,destroy that one thing that was put the curse where enemy is transformed with---I was like hey, isn't this like Randy?!?

I've been watching both shows since like 2016 and to say I've never noticed that would be a bald-faced lie

Tho Ikuto himself is a very interesting character outside of his relationship with Amu. The fact that Shugo Chara is a power that manifests from childhood dreams and desire. Their powers are also not permanent since most people forget about childhood dreams once they grow up. So it's very interesting to see Ikuto who is closer to being an adult (17y.o) still having his powers compared to the rest of the casts who are at the 12-15y.o range

Yeah...that problem could have easily been fixed by making Ikuto younger X'D

So Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask is okay then? You do know they have an age difference too, right?

OH MY GOODNESS YESS... I completely forgot about the plot of season 2. That sounds even more like MLB than the general Shugo Chara storyline. The inspiration is even more apparent now O_o

The Lulu crap was filler and not canon, it wasn't in the manga. The Death Rebel stuff WAS in the manga, but the anime handled it horribly... if they were going to insert anime original content to drag that arc out, they really should have focused more on the mental trauma of that transformation. I know Ikuto didn't remember much when he was in that transformation, but surely after a while he would have started to figure out they were using him to hurt Amu and it would have killed him to know he was potentially hurting her. Although I don't think his evil stepfather realized Ikuto was in love with her, since he was only luring Amu out because she could cleanse X-Eggs and thus bring the Embryo out of hiding, not knowing their relationship and that it hurt Amu to see him like that after she learned about his past.

Upon further investigation, it would appear that Astruc took more inspiration from Shugo Chara than I initially thought. That video is soon to come X3 But I definitely think I would have preferred the anime version of Miraculous. That isn't to say that it wouldn't have had problems, it just looks more interesting and appealing to me~ X3

I hope you enjoy Shugo Chara! It's a fun ride x3 (Ingesting the story is kind of weird, though. Both the anime and manga are canon though they have manga only and anime only stories. So for you to have the true ending, you need to read the last few manga chapters and watch the last season of the anime haha)

I don't think Miraculous is 100% a ripoff of Shugo Chara. I just think Shugo Chara is more of an inspiration for Miraculous than the developers will admit. Regarding my points in the list, it's not so much that Miraculous uses magical girl tropes. That's perfectly fine. MY thing is how it suspiciously uses the same combination of tropes that Shugo Chara does. Given that there are a lot of magical girl tropes that neither show uses, its just fishy how Miraculous uses the specific ones that Shugo Chara does haha

Shugo Chara is super cute and knows what its trying to do X3 It's not the absolute best anime ever, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would watch it again if I had the time X3 It was so relatable to me too when I watched it in middle school/high school as someone who was still trying to figure out who I was and how I was supposed to act. I identified so much with Amu, the main character. If you do end up watching it, I hope you like it! ^0^ And I didn't know about it being written in 3 months. That's crazy! You're right! Some things on this list are very trope-y. Magical girl shows in general have a lot of things in common. However, I call out Shugo Chara as a big inspiration for Miraculous because its the specific combination of tropes that line up a bit too nicely. Like, not every magical girl show uses the exact same tropes every time, but these two shows share some suspiciously similar ones. Especially the main character being in love with a nice blond boy and nice blond boy is only in love with the superhero persona. And there is a cat boy with daddy issues who wants to be free. And a secondary love interest who is an older boy who plays a stringed instrument. yadda yadda yadda It's all in the video XD But yeah, MLB didn't 100% ripp off Shugo Chara, but the heavy inspiration seems super apparent to me. I'm pretty sure Miraculous isn't a magical girl show tho, sure there's magic, and the MC is a girl, but that doesn't mean it's a magical girl show.

@@kenslycarpel3140 Personally, I think it is a Magical girl show since that name is just a collective term for a specific type of show. Like you said, there’s magic and there’s a girl but it’s more than that. The brighter aesthetics, designs and specific story type is what makes it a magical girl show. From what I remember, Magical girls mostly have some kind of funky, flashy ability to bring justice, no matter if it’s just for themselves or others, usually get it from a mystical/foreign creature who can talk and then they have to defeat a big bad boss.

The only *real* connection between rc9gn and MLB is the way the main villains use their powers, everything else is just nitpicking, like how other shows have similar concepts such as Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, both series have things in common but can't be called a ripp off, of one another.

In all honesty, it seems like MLB is a fusion between Shugo Chara, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (another anime/manga), and a pinch of Spiderman. I couldn't help but notice the similarities with Shugo Chara, though haha

I think most magical girl type shows are inspired by Sailor Moon to some degree. Even though SM isn't the first magical girl anime, it is undoubtedly the most influential. I can certainly see the SM influence in Miraculous, but I feel like the Shugo Chara inspiration overshadows it a bit lol. And really? He said that? A bit ignorant on his part. Hopefully they wise up to Chloe's character and give her a more decent development. Thanks for watching and commenting! ^_^

haha I definitely agree that Shugo Chara put a bit more effort into flushing out the guardian's characters and motivations. Definitely appreciated! I also like that they all had distinct quirks and personalities while it seems like in MLB all of the good guys are the same flavor of "nice" and it's kind of frustrating haha I like the character designs of Miraculous, I just wish I cared about more of the characters more. Oh, I can believe that the original Ladybug was completely different. However, the current version on TV is vastly different from the original iteration and thus adapted ideas from other stories. haha thanks for letting me know that I don't sound totally off X3 I don't think that Miraculous is a 100% Shugo Chara rip off, and its apparent that the later seasons are becoming a bit more of its own thing (...a bit), but the early seasons were definitely inspired by Shugo Chara, methinks, especially the second season of Shugo Chara. If you're ever in the anime neck of the woods, I definitely recommend shugo chara! It's a cute time X3

I still think that's a bit of a flimsy reason as I'm sure other animation companies have worked with polka dots before, but fine. I know animation is hard so... In any case, it's a little bit more than them just changing the style. They changed their initial story too and the initial concept sounds more interesting to me. I actually made a follow-up video to this one where I point out 22 more ways that Miraculous was inspired by Shugo Chara. They have SO many similarities that I don't think it can be called a coincidence. I actually consider Miraculous a magical girl show. Magical girls tend to be superheroes as well. I think comparing the two shows makes Shugo Chara look fine. Shugo Chara is the better version of Miraculous and shows how some of the plot points could be handled in a better way (in my opinion). You have the order of the seasons correct! It's Shugo Chara, then Shugo Chara Doki, and then Shugo Chara Party. BUT you might wanna check out my other Miraculous vs Shugo Chara video cuz I explain something about how to get the full canon story (because its not obvious lol)

@@TheArtisticAloubell Well. I watched the other one but still doesn't hold up with me. For example you made a point about how ikito and adrien became evil or were controlled to be evil I will say this is just a coincidence. To be fair the only thing that I might say is not a coincidence is the fact they need magical creatures to be their superhero form. Other than that I think all of the other points are coincidence. Also What makes me think they are not related or miraculous was inspired from shugo chara is the science of the miraculouses it doesn't seem to be like shugo chara. I don't really care what the work is inspired from I just care about if the work is good or bad.

I mean...I'd call it heavy inspiration more than straight up stealing. But yes, you can definitely see where the inspiration for a lot of choices in the show came from. For me, the best thing about the show is its concept and the fanfiction lol

Saying it to “disappear” is way too harsh, they just need to remake MLB because of the bad writing, i really love MLB but i hate the creator, he keeps blocking the people who give criticisms and he hates Chloe, he ruined her alot, now Chloe is a wasted character, i wish Jeremy Zag handled the show instead of Thomas

Aaaand that is the problematic implication I was alluding to ^^" Although I think the age gap is slightly smaller, Like Ikuto being 16 and Amu like 12 or something. But agreed, the age gap is still too big at their age. To be fair, kids in anime don't act like kids most of the time. Amu doesn't act like an elementary school kid, none of her classmates do. So people watching the show tend to get distracted by everyone's more mature mentalities and forget how old they actually are. That's more because the writers either don't know how to write child mentalities, or they consciously chose to have them act older...idk. Is it problematic? Yes, but you can understand how people came to be okay with it (plus using the justification that since Ikuto isn't an adult, it's still legal...and also they won't officially be together until they're both of age). But I definitely see where you're coming from. They probably should have put Amu and friends at least in middle/high school to make the age gap less bad and the story wouldn't have changed.

Generally, you are correct. If someone doesn't like a show, they could stop watching it. And I'm sure a lot of people do just that! But if someone sees something wrong with a show or piece of media, it's perfectly fair to want to critique it or give an honest opinion (as long as it's done in a polite way). No one should go around only talking about things they like, but the things they dislike too. Especially when it comes to stories, sometimes pointing out flaws can help writers or other creatives learn what not to do. If everyone only ever commented on the things they liked, there would be no progress, ya know? And just because something is a kids show doesn't mean it shouldn't have a certain quality. In fact, because it's for kids, who are super impressionable, it should be of higher quality. (Not just talking about MLB, but all kids shows in general). In the case of Miraculous, I heard in the fandom that many fans, while like the show, but also have A LOT of problems with it and enjoy critiquing it and pointing out the negatives. Personally, I like to critique things in such a way because I have expectations and when the expectations aren't met, I get disappointed. Shows and stories have so much potential that it hurts a bit to see potential wasted. As someone who has been paying attention to the MLB fandom and the show in general from a distance, I think people complain about Marinette not so much because of her "stalkerish" tendencies, but because the show doesn't acknowledge it. It's okay if she does dumb stuff and is flawed. As a human, she's supposed to be flawed. And she's in a world that on some level echoes reality. When people do bad things or act irregularly, people are supposed to notice it. From what I've heard, no one has called out Marinette for her flaws, or even notices them, which means she can't grow since they aren't deemed as problems. I personally don't know if she has or hasn't been called out, but if she hasn't then that might be people's source of frustration: That Marinette doesn't grow or learn lessons or mature. Idk. I personally don't have much of an opinion about Marinette. She's just kind of blah/boring as a main character to me. Her "stalkerish" tendencies on their own don't bother me cuz I've watched enough anime to be used to such behaviors. Any frustration I have with her is that her development is super slow and it's frustrating. I'm also rarely a huge fan of the leader in magical girl shows. I actually think that MLB is a combination of Shugo Chara, Spiderman, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. Seeing as how I'm exceptionally biased towards Shugo Chara, I was annoyed that it wasn't credited as an inspiration. I don't think MLB totally ripped it off, I just wanted Shugo Chara to get some recognition for the inspiration. Regarding the reveal, at this point, idk if the writers can come up with something to match the expectations of the fandom due to waiting so long. But I guess we'll see! I actually made a video about Chloe's character development. Astruc was apparently not doing any writing for season 2, and the writers that were in charge did intend to redeem Chloe. But when Astruc came back for season 3, he got upset because she didn't want her to be redeemed. So season 2 had all of this character development, but Astruc decided to trash it. And he made some comment about some villains just won't reform. I took issue with this as Chloe is a 14/15 year old girl who has been shown to have redeeming qualities. The wasted potential irks me. BUT with events happening in season 4, I think there's still a chance for Chloe to reform. We'll see! I'll hand it to you, though. I think MLB is the only magical girl show I've seen where the heroine gets to choose the other heroes. That's one point for MLB...I can't give it much other points than that. I do like that idea, though! All in all, I still can't help but see the similarities between Shugo Chara and Miraculous and I feel that Shugo Chara does some things better than Miraculous. But that's just my opinion ^_^ haha no worries on the long reply! I like to give long replies too when inspired! I appreciate your thoughtful comment and that you watched my video, thank you!
