Hello peanut gallery! I was going nuts with this rope weaving tutorial. I should never work in the middle of the night! lol I managed to do a better job today, but it sure is not as quick as weaving on the 8 notch loom with only 7 strands. This one has 32 notches and 16 strands! But I'm not giving up and there will be more tutorials soon with more elaborate patterns! Here is the video on how to make your 32 notch loom: tinyurl.com/k9ca62k Here is the playlist for all the rope weaving tutorials so far: tinyurl.com/ldopyut I hope you enjoy! xoxo
Want to send me clothing for my Upcycled Fashions? Here is my wish list: t-shirts, jeans, men's or women's long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, flannel shirts, any kinds of skirts (other garments also welcome). xoxo

Darlene, you made my day! I love your attitude...very much like mine! I will be trying this with a bag of embroidery floss that's been hanging around for quite a while...

I love your style! Thank you for doing all the "hard work" and making it easy for us to follow. I just started braiding kumihimo today, you are my 2nd video. I started with 8 cords, made about 2", and came upon your 16-cord diamond pattern tutorial. I loved it! Your directions are easy and funny, so simple to understand. I am using 1mm cord, it's easy to grab and maneuver. With your diagram and easy to follow directions made this so simple to follow and have a finished piece in an afternoon. (Notice I said afternoon and not 3 a.m.!) 😋

Omg LMAO 🤣 THIS made my night. Just saying craftlace is a little bit easier to work with. I just started this. I attempted the boxbraid free hand and I flipped my shit. Mostly because 6yrs ago I managed to do it and loved it. Now, at 19 I am having a hell of a time. So I went back to my loom and worked my tail off trying to make a basic lanyard for my coworker. Definitely loved it once I processed and understood the directions. Took me 5hrs.😂

I have found that when dealing with long cords or thread wrapping them on sponge rollers keeps them from tangling up too much.

Couple things I've learned from making these. Using some form of weight where you put your safety pin will help keep tension even. For tangles, there are bobbins available that you can wind the strands inside. Check out CSL she is awesome and will save you some frustration.

I had a consideration, could you increase the scale of the kumihimo wheel, to like a pie plate or pizza pan diameter to give you a larger work surface to reduce tangling if you want to do larger cords (I want to work in finer cords but greater lengths). Also, is there a way you can mount it on like an angle spinning turn table (similar to a quilter's frame or embroidery frame holder.) this might free up your hands and allow you to work faster. I'm thinking about doing this, but I would need to increase production and improve efficiency for the volume of products that I crank out. That's why I think about improvements in workflow (also I have carpal tunnel.)

You could clothes peg bundles of the tangled thread.

Maybe number the loom? Just a suggestion because I know I would never be able to keep track without the slots being numbered.

This looks like Kumihmo (sp) to me. There's a KZfaqr, CSL Designs and she does a lot of it on her channel. Maybe that would be someone you'd be interested in watching for some ideas or helpful tips?
