I've never understood why so many dislike this album. "Crazed Institution" in particular is one of my favorite all-time songs.

I love Too Old To Rock N Roll, it was my gateway into Tull in 1976, so this lovely version is most welcome, thanks for a splendid job.

I love the music analysis you give; you always pick up on things I've appreciated but not really realized. It turns out that a lot of my favourite Tull pieces involve extra beats or a changing cycle (a la Eddie Dobson/Fylingdale Flyer).

Bravo Stewart and thanks for the tips on the added and subtracted beats in the bridge section. Loved this album on vinyl with it's comic strip artwork.

Lord Wood I agree with 99% of your commentary excepting your primary premise -- this is musically, lyrically and quintissentially a Tull song. Now I request that you cover Big Dipper and then time warp to Mayhem Maybe. Good Evening.

As always great job. 2 questions: 1. What drives your choice for the next song? 2. How long does it typically take you to learn the song?
@DailySporran
@DailySporran 10 ай бұрын
Thank you. On choice of songs: initially it was songs that occurred to me when I heard the records again during Covid, or because learning a previous song had triggered it as a thought (eg doing Christmas Song made me think of Another Christmas Song). Now it is driven by what songs I have left to play. I'm trying to leave myself with 1 song on every album from Stand Up to Crest Of A Knave left to do as my final farewell. On how long it takes: usually a couple of hours, but some songs have sections that need a lot more time. At the moment, the instrumental part of Budapest is taking a few hours to learn, for example.

What was the most difficult song to play or maybe one you have not attempted? @@DailySporran
@DailySporran
@DailySporran 10 ай бұрын
@@locomotivebreath2831 The most tricky one so far has been the Memory Bank section from Passion Play. The most tricky one I've yet to commit to video is The Pine Marten's Jig from A. Not even sure quite yet whether a solo acoustic of that one can be done.

@@DailySporran I met at tull fan who also played flute and he asked me what hard solo I played..then he said try pine Martin's jig. Yes, that one is tough to play correctly... Change it up somehow..turn it in a reggae version! :)
