Not a fan of Coogan but Saxondale was sublime. Had both seasons on my phone for years. The coke snorting scene talking about railway gauge standardisation had me on the floor.

I loved the first series but it felt like people didnt get it so they partridged it up for series 2. Nighty night went the same way. Uk Comedy all went a bit ropey until Gavin and Stacey came out.

I think a new series where Saxondale launches himself as an independent candidate when the local MP has to step down following a sex scandal, would be great to watch. And only marginally less bizarre than current reality.

Can't stand Coogan's loony political leanings, but isn't it about time the man was knighted? The quality of his writing, the perfection of his performance, high level consistency. Saxondale is a brilliant creation, so different from Partridge you forget it's the same actor. In a hundred years he will be revered as we revere Peter Sellers today.

Bring Tommy back

His knowledge of the rave scene circa 89-2001 would be limited.

Its so well acted I find it too painful to watch, maybe I spent too much time with the Saxendales of this world.

You know it's really unsettling seeing Matt Berry play a sober and restrained character. That death star that his character gives all through Tommy's tittering... 🤨

I've said it before I'll say it again, a twenty-years hence Saxondale series would be mint, and I'm not one that usually goes for these long-gap revivals. Get Rasmus Hardiker back as well.

I absolutely loved Saxondale. Found Tommy a much more sympathetic character than AP. I think that the success of AP was detrimental to the success of Saxondale. Will always have a fond place in my heart for it.
