who ever tried to put an optic on that gun should be cursed for ruining a perfect piece of history. if he wanted an optic buy a ruger 10 22 instead

When it starts to jam on the last 5 or 6 cartridges stretch the magazine tube spring . First gun I fired back in 1959 was Daddy’s 151M , it probably reminded him of his Garand that he fought with in Patton’s Third Army . The Mossberg was very accurate and at 14 I killed a lot of squirrels with it one of which was running. Daddy would go with me but didn’t carry a gun he no longer wanted to kill game . Probably because of the war but he wanted me to know how to hunt .

I got one that is a later production with a dovetail mount with a weaver scope and base. Awesome.22. Keeps the foxes away from me and my chickens.

I have one myself, and it's sad mine suffered the same drill hole fate. Though mine happens to be a unique one with a full mannlicher styled stock.

I have this same gun it was my grandfathers and survived a house fire. It cycles so smoothly!

Those holes take a mossberg type 8 mount, so you can have a weaver b4 on it. And still use irons Can also put a mossberg #4 rear reciever peep sight on it.

I have a Winchester model 54 it's just about the same rifle. It never jams never stops running awesome rifle. I picked it up for $125 the guns shop I bought it off of thought it was a single shot semi-auto. I told them what it was as soon as I paid for it.

I have a 51m and a 151, the 151 has drill holes. But these are great adult sized .22s.

Never heard about adjusting the tension on the recoil spring before. I have a 151k with a similar bolt design. I'm gonna try adjusting that rear knob and see if it will shoot lighter loads by backing it off.

Kewl gun with the tubular magazine in the but stock. I have seen old lever actions with same setup, not sure what make they were.

I believe a good gunsmith could fill those unwanted holes in your receiver. I have a Mossberg bolt action 22 that was a World War II U S. military rifle for marksmanship training that had a scope on it when I bought it. There are two screw holes that I want to have filled someday. Very nice rifle!

I remember these will go full auto when the trigger group gets well worn. Like a lot of those cheap, semiautomatic 22s made before the 80s.

That’s a sweet little 22, I think it would be worth getting those holes welded up. It’s still a nice looking rifle though.

Awesome. I remember my Family having one of these when I was a little kid and was great. Hey I was wondering? Me and a friend has these little semi-auto mag-fed .22's as kids that my mate ground down a pin on his and made it "full auto"... as in pull the trigger and the 20 round mags would be empty before you could even reset it haha. Like a third of a second and gone. Anyway we always called them a ja-vahn. Or something like that by pronunciation, idk if spelling is right. And I haven't been able to find them or find anything about them o kine or anything. Any ideas what they would be?

You can raise or even eliminate dents in a wood stock by steaming them with a damp cloth and a clothes iron.

Got a browning ATD, SA22 guessing the mossberg was based off it. Its more of a premium 22 and was and still is really expensive for a 22

Honestly I'd take this over 90% of canadian legal arms. I'd rather have 12 shots of .22lr (you gotta buy good ammo that's the secret) than like 4 shots of .308. I've never shot a .308 but I got practice with .22lr, and ik a lot of fellow gun nuts would tell me 22 is ineffective as a self defense round but I'd feel so much better off with 10+ shots of 22 as opposed to say a single shot 5.56 bolt action which is probably one of the only other things that's canada legal.

I'll bet that little old .22 is probably worth a lot of money

I might have to go back to the hospital and I have been following the regiment of medicine and doing as supposed to, but it has not quite been enough to get rid of it. I like the deal you made and enjoy your channel. Knowing that this is your got to get done time of season of the year I can understand the lack of time and sense of urgency to get ready now for the winter season. I see.. Well I'm not a gun person. But in my hands I would slide a piece of copper tubing down there, then weld up all the holes (steel won't bond to copper). Then either send it off to be cleaned up in a lathe or do it myself.
