We trade a 1960s Big Internation Harvester Truck cab for a short bed for "Ole Blue". Ole Blue is our barn find 1957 Chevy 3200 series long bed step side pickup truck. He was pulled from a barn in Dale County Alabama where he had been in the same family since 1960. Check out our previous videos to see the whole story. Ole Blue was built in Atlanta Georgia and was born with a 235ci 6 cylinder and a 3 speed on the column, or "3 on the tree". I plan to LS swap the truck with a LS1, ported 243 heads, and a Tick Performance Polluter cam kit. Probably a 4L80E over drive automatic, but I'm kind of torn between it and a Muncie 4 speed. Either and M21 or M20, we don't have any M22 rock crushers. Ole Blue will then be my new daily driver and ill sell the LS swapped s10 that's my current daily. I'll probably never restore Ole Blue completely, but just try and preserve the patina and current state without letting the truck get any rougher. Kinda like a 1957 version of the Roadkill muscle truck. Just gonna need a good radio.
The plan now since I found the bed is to shorten the frame and convert the 3200 to essentially a 3100 series truck. or 3/4-ton LWB to a 1/2-ton SWB. I plan to keep the 6 lug all the way around and run those killer 15x6 and 15x8 slotted mags we have! I will do a disk brake conversion up front though. Hopefully we can find a 6-lug disk brake rear end with a good gear and a locker.
We also score some cool vintage speed parts on this trip and a few 57 Chevy part for our 1957 Chevy 150.
