Getting to know the sounds and enjoying an old classic car. The soundtrack is the rev of the motor, squeak of the springs and shifting whines of the transmission.

My dad had a car exactly like this when I was 4 years old in the 1960s. I remember sitting in the back with the same view watching my dad drive with the exact same steering wheel

Does your car smell of gas or smoke?
@MakeitOnce4 жыл бұрын
At start its mostly vapor and typical cold exhaust smell; no gas or smoke from tail pipe. Once warm it burns pretty clean, in terms of exhaust. The mystery for me is that the plugs had carbon build up but not worn out. Maybe too many stars, and too little actual warm driving.

That car is amazing, is it a B16 B20.
@MakeitOnce4 жыл бұрын
B18. Not a lot of horse power, but good torque for a light weight car.
@EnriqueLopez-hb5jn4 жыл бұрын
@@MakeitOnce Is that why it is so rare to find a B18, not like the others, that you can find very easy, because I think the same engine the B20 was used in the 140 series.
@MakeitOnce3 жыл бұрын
I'm not totally sure; kinda new to Volvos. A lot of it depends on where you live. The only B18's in my area that I see for sale are still in the Amazons and being used (Though there is a place in Oregon that specializes in rebuilding them and has some for sale). The B20's got pulled from the 140's cause the cars didn't last very long, or get saved as classics, etc. Where I live, "Classic" cars have to be before 1975 and can't have new engines without an inspection, so I think people just keep the older B18's in place and mod/rebuild them over and over until they die. The really sought after Volvo engines are the later turbo bricks. Never see those in my area.

@@MakeitOnce I am surprised those Turbo red bricks were in 1981 or 1982 on to 1985, they were in 242 Turbo , 244 Turbo (GLT),also if.you had the opportunity to get a turbo set up you could install it early240s, like the 1981 or 1982 models.

@@MakeitOnce Somebody that can help you through his videos is zDavid Bello, he is an expert on Amazons 240s, and so forth he is an expert, he swapped a supposedly swapped a 240 engine and put a 940 set up he can help.

Hard to tell from video, but sounds more like diff noise, not transmission.
@MakeitOnce2 жыл бұрын
I've had a nagging thought, that, yes, it was further back. Checking my "notes," I now realize I haven't opened the diff to look at it on this car. I'm pretty sure that it'll be partially filled with thick black ooze, like everything else; but, whether that is the cause of the noise will be the question :) Vid of me looking at the diff will be on list.
