Same issue I have with mine. Snap-On has a special wrench for this but it is discontinued. They now sell for around 200.00 used. I am going to try to loosen the fender like y’all did and not have to disassemble the entire front end of a newly painted Mustang. Waiting on the hinges to get back in stock at NPD.

I understand from many sources these hinges are all made in Taiwan and are junk. They don't last long and suffer from quality issues as well. They're all available online. Considering the great difficulty involved in removing the hinges, best is to get factory used ones and bush/pin them in. You're done for good without worrying about short term failure.

i have a suggestion for you guys: it would be sooo cool if you'd do a series like everything you need to know about cars. from a practical point of view. e.g explaining gear ratios etc. as far as i know there is nothing like that on youtube.

Great episode thanks guys!!!! My door has a bigger gap at the front near the fender. Also my roof fits nice at the back bottom but the top is a tad too recessed! Any tips? Thanks again gents!

Mustang Steve hinge setup! So much more superior to the stock bushings. Just did the conversion on my '68.

Ryan Madden We looked at that. But went with a replacement hinge. Mustang Steve does have nice stuff for sure! We might address that on another car. Thanks for reminding us!

Does the Mustang hinge have a hex end on the threaded end as well. The hinge bolts on my Falcon have that feature so that you can snug them up from inside the kick panel with the door shut.

No. BUT that would be a great idea for a bolt for the Mustang. Still, you'd have to remove the fender to access the bolts. Make adjusting a lot easier though.

Right. Your first adjustments would be for door to rear quarter alignment, then you can adjust your fender to the door and hood.

Hint #72381. If you're going to take it apart and paint it, just spend the money and replace the hinges... Dumb Question: What size tires is on that car?
