1967 Camaro - How to Spray Paint an Engine Bay

With the engine out of the car, the engine bay begged for fresh paint. After degreasing and power washing, this video was filmed. A small crack in the firewall was located and sealed as well. Two coats of satin black VHT Roll Bar & Chassis paint was applied and it turned out great. Thanks! If you take a look at the "intercooler piping" video you can see how it looks in regular daylight. Looks great for a daily driver I'd say.

When buying new filters for your mask, look for pink ones, or ones with pink ends. The pink indictates HEPA filtration, much finer and probably the best for your lungs. Also, to keep your filters effective for the longest time, store them in a sealed bag, zip lock or whatever, just make sure to get the most air out you can. These things do degrade, so if your filter get old just grab new ones. A few bucks to breathe is well worth it. Love your videos man, good stuff!

+Rich Gallegos great information and tip about the zip lock. I'm bad for not maintaining my masks. I usually do buy the pink ones when I (eventually) replace them. Thanks for watching!

looks good that was a factory seam at the top of the firewall that the seam sealer was coming out not really a crack the best approach would have been remove all the seam sealer and reapply new sealer to that area but you got it looks good

+Chris Mansker Yeah I should have spent a bit more time on it as I'm sure I would have realized it was factory and could have prepped it a bit better. Seems to be holding well but not my favorite fix for sure. I'm glad you commented with the better approach.

its a driver not a show car well not yet I like that you went with turbo on a 250 6 really cool to see someone do something different than the norm

Hoping you get back to me before I attempt my engine bay. After 25 years I was able to locate my late father's 1971 Camaro. Pulling the block this spring ans repainting it along with the engine bay. How has your paint job lasted after these years? I figure might as well try it if you're getting these results. Let's be honest engine bay paint is no where near the quality as the outside. I'm getting the outside painted professionally so I'm curious how this has lasted for you?

staticchange1 2 cans. About ⅔ can per coat. The last half of the second can I sprayed on then radiator support and inner fenders.

Nice ! When it's dry, does the VHT paint scratches easily with your fingernails... kinda ?

Not really.. Its been a couple years now and the head and block, despite being a bit dirty, still look good and have that nice metallic look. I'd definitely use the same paint again.

Engine bay still looks good. No issues at all actuslly. I highly recommend the paint and method. Obiously a spray booth could have done a better job, but for what it is, it turned out great.
