I hope that price of conversions will go down a lot in the next years. Today it's a little bit restrictive. When it will go down, I will do my Beetle also. Thank you, Richard, for the amount of information you provide on this channel!

Amazing. I live in a small hilly island with about 30 miles diameter. With lots of small cities and it would be perfect here because of lots of stop and go where electric is much more efficient than engine. And then gears is also nice to use...it would be a dream.

What;s the range on a charge? Any reason you're shifting it? I thought they could just run in one gear

Range average is eighty miles. You can run in one gear, but that adversely affects your range and performance. We use the mechanical advantage of the gear box to go from a stand still to freeway speeds in the most efficient manner.

This is very interesting, I'm considering a conversion . I am a newbie to EV tho-- can you tell me what upping the re-gen is? (around 15 min mark in the video)

The percentage of regenerative braking is programmable. So upping the regen is increasing the percentage of regenerative braking. The regenerative braking occurs whenever you release the throttle. The motor becomes a generator and sends energy to the battery pack. That creates a load on the motor which causes you to decelerate or in other words creates braking of the drive wheels. Thus regenerative braking. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Car seemed to handle the high outside summer temps pretty well. Can you disclose what the customer's conversion cost is? If not, maybe a ballpark $ range? (curious Geo Metro owner)

IMO a simple cover over the relays and terminal strips would really clean up the motor.

I'm still at a loss why you shift through the gears. My friend has just about the same set up and he just leaves it in 1 gear the whole time.

That depends on your right foot. The average is eight miles.
