10.352@127.59 mph run at South Georgia Motorsports Park 12/2/2006
'68 Vette, 406 small block, naturally aspirated, full frame car. Sorry for the audio problem. Seems like during converting the video to youtube format, the video/audio synchronisation got messed up :(

Super. My 68 Vette was a 600+hp 468 & TH400 with 3800 converter; 4.10 gears; constantly blow half-shafts, even the chevy HD "off road"; best ET on DOT L60's is 11.48 @ 119mph; squeezed is 10.71 @ 132mph LOVE your vids, love your ride

@mrgreen386dls I did drive the car on the street in that setup (except for the tires). Took the car off the street a few years ago as I went too radical on it.. Now the car has a much stronger engine and nitrous.. Back in that video, I only had a naturally aspirated 406.. Now it's a radical 434 with a 250 shot of nitrous.

I personally like all american muscle and sports cars. You can make anything go fast :-D I wouldn't mind racing a nice classic Mustang!

Wheels and tires are a good starting point to lose weight.. My 15 x 10 ET Drag wheels weight 13 lbs each.. The Bias-Ply tires are also pretty light. Front skinnies weight less than 20 lbs WITH tire each.. I use AEROSPACE Drag brakes front and rear which took lots of weight off and allows to install wheels that otherwise wouldn't clear the calipers. Rear spring weights a ton and going with a composite spring will take lots of weight off. Stock seats are heavy.. Race seats also take off weight..

@vettefan73 In that video, I was only running about 580 - 600 HP.. I since added a lot of power to the car and it ran 9.90 on engine and 9.47 on a 100 shot.. Car should run 8's on a 250 shot but I stopped racing and I'm selling the car.

I agree with the "dont knock" philosophy, but as a muscle car era child, the Camaro was purpose built by Chevy to compete with the Mustang. Ford originally built the T-Bird to compete with the Vette - didn't work. Eventually a certain farmer from Texas named Carol Shelby, who quickly cured Ford's competition problems against the Vettes. (BTW - I personally own a 390/427 68 Vette)

@mustangman442002 once you take them away from stock what difrent dose it make? after stock the only thing to be compared is looks and even that is often changed.... so chevy, ford, mopar, honda, lambo. its all simply a starting block. i have videos of a 1966 Volvo running 1000HP from a volvo engine, and 80's volvo's with corvette engines. i see Chevys with ford motors and fords with chevy motors all the time. When it comes to the strip or any race track the only thing that maters is the driver.

The 502 will add some weight.. You will n eed to take off some weight elsewhere to be fast.. Reducing the race weight is one key to be fast without having to add additional power.. A stock ZZ502 will not be enough for 10's.. You need about 600 HP for 10's and about 700 HP for 9's if everything else is set up perfectly.. I know people with 850 HP who can't hit 9's.. It's all in the setup.. Weight, gearing and suspension are the most critical things to be fast.

When I made this run, I only had around 600 HP. Now, the car has about 675 HP on engine and I also have a 250 shot of nitrous. I have only run a 100 shot so far with a best of 9.57 @ 143 mph.. However the fastest video that I have is 9.73 @ 144.20 mph

I used to run a Tom's 12 bolt which is a modified differential case with 12-bolt internals. When I was running in the 10's, I was running a 12-bolt posi and when I went to a much stronger engine (950 HP), I swapped out the posi for a 12-bolt spool. The Tom's half shafts were very thick walled and they were using virtually unbreakable 1480 series u-joints. The axles were 31/32 spline axles, also made by Tom's. There are racers who ran low 8's with the same setup.
