Video highlighting the features and styling of the 1970 Imperial LeBaron. The '70 Imperial was the finest of the fine cars of Chrysler Corporation for 1970, and this video showcases the qualities of this vintage automobile.

Super clean. It’s nothing like the 70s full size car rides. They are roomy, comfortable and amusing. Congratulations.

True luxury car! Burned premium-grade(100 octane) fuel...about 16 mpg highway, 9-10 mpg city...but what miles! Set the cruise control at 70 and it'd take you 400 miles in great comfort. Smooth ride, but very agile handling, unlike the mushy cornering of Lincs and Caddies. I owned one...unforgettable.

My fourth car back in 1981 through 1986 was a 1971 Imperial LeBaron!essentially the same as a 1970 but with modified headlight doors and close to 1972-'73 emblems and badges! And the 1972 style headlight and Sentinel switches!

There is a article by allpar stating that these can get some good gas millage in terms of highway, they stated something like 15 MPG and 10 city, could be increased slightly by modern throttle body efi. Here is the part in the article that highlights millage. Fuel consumption was competitive with any other vehicle near its weight during these model years. Depending on driver skill, they were capable of 15 - 16 USA miles per gallon, helped by radial tires at proper pressure, when out on an open highway. City traffic reduced miles per gallon to about ten or so.

I love that horizontal tail-lamp look better than the later models more upright lenses. This car has a lot of attitude. A big presence, but a real sexy quirky style. Someone should put a modern fuel efficient engine in one of these and throw some modern tech systems to manage it all. I am sure people would go wild for an Imperial with pleasing fuel economy. Neil Young did that with a '59 Lincoln and it is still an awesome creation because he preserved the original character of the old girl (mostly) and used it as a regular driver AND it was economical. Maybe not easy to park, but economical. Of course, now I've said that, who would replace their Mopar power house ? -But a dead engine car ? >>Come on Someone !

Maybe a modern V8 will improve MPG but why would you do that? By the time you're finished with all the custom work you've spend thousends and thousends of dollars not to mention actually buying a modern V8 & transmission. The cost of all that will buy you gas for a few decades. After all, these cars are used in the weekends on a dry day. Part of the heritage is having an authentic legendary 440 under that big hood. If you want MPG go get a 4 cyl grocery getter.

Well, other than literally not being able to get gas, customers at this level didn't care about the mpg. Of course, gas concerns affected Chrysler as a whole since its primarily customer base did care about mpg.

@@frothe42 No, sorry. If you look at the picture of the trunk, you will see the spare tire mounted up underneath the rear package shelf. This is where the rear evap unit would be located (and very visible in the pictures) Over the years I have had 5 Imperials with dual A/C, and 6 wagons with dual A.C. That was a common sight in cars from southern Arizona and there used to be a lot in the yards, but most have been crushed up by now. The "rear air" switch is for the rear window defogger. If you look at 4:31, you can see the rear defroster outlet against the back.

@@frothe42 Not a problem. A LOT of times guys will advertise DUAL A/C because of the "rear air" switch. I even saw a guy who put the rear air vents on the package shelf and claimed it was dual A/C.
