That is a beautiful car. My Mom had one just like this one and she had a heavy foot.I remember going with my Dad and Mom to try out new cars. We looked at everything that the major dealers had and she kept declining all of the salesmen that tried to sell her a car. No Ford, Chevy, Olds, Pontiac, or anything had brought her back to any of the dealers. We made it to a larger town that had a bunch of larger dealerships. There were o Mopar dealers there where we lived and they also had short stocks. When we were pulling into the Mopar dealership in the big town she spotted a New Yorker almost exactly like yours. She kept telling these dumb ass salesmen she wanted something that she would have no problem when it came to passing or going around slower traffic but they kept ignoring her and would show my Dad stuff and they were told that it was her car and they were going to have to sell to her, not him. Finally there was a salesman that listened. When we went to test drive the New Yorker and she put her foot into it she came away with a really big grin. My Dad knew she was going to buy the car when he saw that. Her car was a darker blue but pretty much the same interior. She loved that car and I did too when I turned 16 and it was a couple of years old I could use it for dates sometime. Talk about something that would roll, it would run buddy. The closest thing that came close was a Oldsmobile with a 455 HO in it. But she thought it was too big and bulky looking. But it sure did run a close race.

I didn't think the New Yorker was the fastest car around, given it's sheer size. Ha, given it's reputation for guzzling gas, I bet she might have been caught stranded on empty at least once or twice, stepping on it like she wants to go fast, but stuck going nowhere?

I drove my elderly neighbor's '71 base model 2-door navy blue New Yorker when I was seventeen, and wasn't used to power brakes and man, I almost went thru the windshield. Sensitive and powerful brakes! It was 9 yrs. old and mint, like this one and driving it was like steering a cargo ship. Real light steering.

What?! A '71 New Yorker with buckets, console and a floor shift? I grew up with these cars, had a '70 Newport Custom 2-door in the same color paint, and I would have bet good money that these options weren't even available on a New Yorker. I'm thinkin' we're looking at "one of one" here. The most gorgeous fuselage-body Mopar I've ever seen.

225/75 on the front and 235/75 ...on the rear. I added one leaf to the springs both sides. I also placed heavy duty shock absorbers on the back called cargo springs..coil- over shocks..all said and done gained an inch and 3/4 in rear height and the ride comfort was not affected.. handled fantastic..loads of torque..quick for its size..stops on a dime..you feel like a man when you drive it. Tall gears 2.76 unlimited top end speed. If you had enough road you you would hit 140mph ..and feel like your only going 75-80..this is the car for long trips across a country. Other drivers are intimidated when they see you in their mirror..the car has it's own presence...you feel like somebody when you drive cars like this

What a beauty! In high school a friend had a pretty rough Satellite of the same year, very similar inside with that white vinyl interior, those seats, the dash and steering wheel. It flew us everywhere we wanted to go. There's a tan New Yorker, not nearly as mint as this example that I see in the next town over from time to time, it's quite a cruiser for sure!

My parents bought a brand new 1972 New Yorker Brougham, 2 door, B5 blue with with a white vinyl top and white leather interior, high back bucket seats, obviously fully loaded. Absolutely GORGEOUS luxury coupe. I was only 8 years old but I can still remember how total strangers would "always" approach my dad while at the gas pumps to compliment his car. Chrysler changed to front and back end in '73. Personally, I think the '72 is so much better looking.

Damn what a wonderful example. How damn rare is a bucket seat floor shift console New Yorker. Looks like power seats on both sides. Rear defroster, what is the second rocker switch at center dash. I know one is for the rear defrost. I know it had tilt and telescope. Power windows. I messed up in 1982, I had a 85K mile 70 Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe nicely optioned. I had zero clue how rare it was (about 675). In 1984 I had a 1973 Imperial, had the posi, lock alarm, sure brake, rear air, basically most options.

I grew up with the identical (parent's) car except with stunning light green metallic. It was a blast to drive in my teens. I took my driver's test with it, no problem. I must admit it wouldn't win many drag races, but was a great high speed, late night cruiser. I was lucky to survive, no joking.

Robert, looks like your video has been up for some time but it was worth watching and appreciating your piece of history that is in awesome shape. Auto on the floor option even. Not sure if you are the original owner, but it would be cool to see the build sheet. Ideally which you may already know they slipped them under the rear passenger seat. The Good: Stunning magnificent car in incredible condition, love the lines so much, that colour and the interior look and the rare floor shift . Love the wheels and stance. I would recommend next time to put the rear seat centre arm rest down, it really makes the back seat look more luxurious. The Bad: I cannot believe there is no arm rest with that centre console. That would bug me no end. Where are you suppose to rest your arm? For a luxury car of this stature with no centre arm rest is a noticeable loss. Those huge dice hanging from the mirror look so tacky and bad taste. Ruins the look, makes it look like a pimp's car. Why no view of the engine and why no startup or little drive around for the viewers? Also a correction: NOT a Posi Trac! That's GM language. The rear axle is a "Sure Grip" Chrysler terminology.
