[Nephew of Ida] Congrat! What a car! I was 9 in 1973. The 1st US-Car I have seen in East Germany. It was a culture shock for me. It was not a private visitor from Westberlin, it was a car of the US-Controlunit in Westberlin. Since this moment I have a dream...

my Dad had this exact same car in every detail! same color & all. I still remember every detail!

I have always been a GM guy but when it came to luxury cars Chrysler has it hands down there is no Cadillac or Lincoln that even would come close to a imperial or New Yorker!! I love to hear those old starters crank

All Imperial two-door models sold from 1961 onward came with a "throaty" sport exhaust. The four-door models had the quietest exhaust on any big block V8 car out of Detroit, were strictly luxury models. All my parents drove were Imperials. I spent my childhood riding in the back seat watching the world go by. They make the so-called luxury cars of today feel pretty pathetic and undeserving.

Those rear quarters are monstrous on 2DR HTs!

This beautiful 1973 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron Coupe, finished in Sahara Beige, would be an ideal full restoration project, and well worth doing, as the two door Hardtop Coupe Imperial is now quite rare in 2019.....Fun Fact, the 1973 Imperial LeBaron Hardtop Coupe and Sedan hold the record as being the longest standard production cars, at 19 feet 7.3 inches in length. (Not including limousine or custom built cars).

Wow what a nice big Coupe! Wasn't the LaBaron a Coupe? The other a sedan? But I have to tell ya, that car is just like the one the older brother in the TV show Fargo drove!

They made 2,563 of these in 1973. That's it. Those you who are asking to find one-good luck. I searched for 26 years and just saved a '73 2 door from Montana. BTW-no 1973 Imperials ever came with the TNT 440. Not one. That air cleaner lid was added by someone at one point. The TNT was gone by 1971 and was actually used for the Chrysler line-not Imperial. The 8,500 price on this back in 2017 was actually a steal. It was worth more than that.

Oh, the brocade!! LOL Just learned something... I had thought the Imperials retained wing-windows until the 'waterfall' grill era. On the other hand, it still had retractable rear windows when Cadillac and all the other GM's went to fixed windows. BTW, LeBaron or Crown, it didn't make a difference: One year they were Imperials, the next they were Chrysler Imperials - 1967 give or take.
@jtp5855 жыл бұрын
Mark, the vent wings were standard on 4dr hts and sedans (the latter cancelled after 69, when it was available as a Crown, 832 built) through to 70. After that they were optional and power operated when the previous standard units were manually operated. 69 was the only Fuselage model year they were available on a 2dr ht and in that case without A/C, though some may have been built with both the vents and A/C for promotional use or something like that.The difference between Crown and LeBaron was bigger that you think. The cheaper Crown was built with the bigger rear window and speaking of Fusie era, only with a cloth/vinyl split back bench seat on 2dr hts or a full width bench with a folding arm rest on 4dr models. The top line LeBaron received the limousine-like formal rear window and the standard (split back on a 2dr, divided on a 4dr) seat was of cloth/leather with the bolsters and seat backs made of vinyl. The optional seats were made of leather trimmed with vinyl and in a 2dr they were buckets with a buddy seat and a 4dr received a divided bench seat. needless to say that the rear seat was made of the same materials as the front seat(s).Prior to 69, one was able to get a 2dr Imperial only as a cheaper model than the LeBaron.

Air cleaner had a "TNT" cap on it. Don't think that belonged.
@oddzandns68775 жыл бұрын
The TNT air cleaner is correct , Chrysler used it on the 440 engine. Check out the following link at the 25 seconds into the video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLKbZbWqrLbHhoU.html

It's not. The '73 never had a TNT engine. Someone put that on there. I've owned 4 of these and just saved a '73 2 door like this. The TNT was gone by 1971 and the Imperials didn't come with it.

It's an Imperial Lebaron. As in Lincoln Continental. The Chrysler Imperial didn't happen until 10 years later. For decades the Imperial was to Chrysler as Ford was to Lincoln or GM was to Cadillac. You wouldn't say "it's a General Motors Cadillac" would you? Imperial was Chryslers equal to Cadillac and Lincoln. And a much better luxury car compared to them. The Imperial limousines were so well built, Chrysler lost money on each one sold.
@theoriginalmungaman5 жыл бұрын
Jon Wild Wrong! Its a Chrysler Imperial just like it say’s on the emblems and owners manual!
@wantsomecoffe5 жыл бұрын
It literally say 'Imperial By Chrysler' on the trunk..

Just because it´s in fact Imperial by Chrysler corp. Imperial was its own make during the period 55-75. Period.

ImpJay You are wrong! I own a 72 and it says Chrysler everywhere. There were only a few early years that it was just Imperial.
