My 1984 Mercedes Benz 300 Turbo Diesel (W123). The viewer will learn a little about this totally original, unrestored car and experience what it is like to drive it. I first purchased it in 2003 from the original owner's estate. I sold it to a friend in 2003 and bought it back from him in 2016. There is footage showing how clouds and shadows of trees beautifully reflect in the car's original paint. I am the third caretaker of this well loved and maintained 140,000 + mile piece of engineering excellence. This video was done on September 30, 2021.

God I love this diesel sound. Its music to my ears. The sound reflects honesty, durability and longevity. Absolutely adorable. One of the best engineered cars ever made. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Nothing but the best. I'm a proud owner of 4 0f them.

Bro, it's the sweet music from the engine noiser and I'm enjoying it daily The MB 123 is a trustful friend I bought one 300 TD second hand with only 145.000km on it 23 years and never disappointed me BTW I'm hungry for another one or two 😋 Have a blessed day Bro 🤝🏼

Yes, it was. It was my wife's car. It has been replaced with a 2013 Mercedes C300 4-Matic Luxury. We hope this car is as durable. Thank you for watching and your lovely comment.

You can tell when a Mercedes diesel is well tuned, with good injectors, correctly adjusted valves, clean filters, and correct injection pump timing....they sound like this one! Nice car. Nice hat too!🙂

Great video and beautiful car! I also have a 1984 300D in VA with 70k miles. Everything is solid but just needs a paint job and a few things sorted out. But she rides like a dream and keeps up with modern cars. Love her.

You need to remove accelerator linkages in order to remove the valve cover. Be careful not to harm the ball and socket junction of the accelerator pedal linkage mounted on the firewall. You will need the correct wrenches to adjust the valves and make sure you do it with a cold engine. I recommend rotating the engine via the nut at the end of the crank shaft inside the pully in the clockwise direction as you face the engine. Oh, and get new crush washers and valve cover gasket.@@PositivelyGreat3

Знакомный звук дизеля,у меняих было три штуки.2,0, 2,4 и 3,0 литра.Самые хорошие воспоминания от мерсов, на этом 123 мерсе желтые противо туманные круглые фары, это лишние.Родные противотуманные светят очень хорошо,в остальном достойный аппарат.Всем мира и добра!!!

Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I use the added yellow fog lights for daytime poor visibility driving. USA models do not allow the use of standard fog lights without the use of headlights so come wired from the factory that way.

Not "infamous". But FAMOUS, or RENOWNED. Great cars. Just sad that the car is Light ivory. Practical, but not a colour that sets off the W123 to best effect.

Change oil every 5000miles and take care of it and it will make more then a milion kilometers

Thank you for watching and taking your time to comment. I use Rotella T-4 15w40 and change oil, oil filter every 3,000miles. I do diesel purge and change fuel filters once a year. Adjust valves every 10,000 miles. It is one of my babies.

Love the w123! I drive w123 200 (euro version). May I ask where did you get the extra fog lights? I don’t think they are original, but they indeed look very nice on your w123!

Thank you for watching and commenting. I found them on Amazon, real glass lenses. They are not original. I wired them with a separate switch as I did not want to "dig" into the harness and find the factory wiring.

@@kenny7360 No drilling. I purchased clamps that I adapted to fit. You just have to look around. The lights are "United Pacific (2) 5" Round Antique Vintage Car Truck Hot Rod Halogen Fog Lights with Amber Lense." Search Amazon for them.

Thank you. I got them from Amazon in 2019. They have real glass lenses and chromed metal housing. I wired them separately to operate independently. However, they are currently unavailable. United Pacific (2) 5" Round Antique Vintage Car Truck Hot Rod Halogen Fog Lights/Amber Lens.

Fortunately, the 3-liter turbo charged diesel is not. It has around 125 HP and really comes on strong around 40 MPH. It still achieves 30 to 33 MPG on trips and around town. Thank you for watching.

I had a '79 and an '85 300D. I loved those cars but they handled like crap in the rain/snow.

Me too. In 2018 I drove 600 miles from my house to Birmingham, Alabama in pouring down rain, on the interstate, at 70+ MPH. the car handled very well and felt very solid. I've not driven it in the snow, however. I've driven W108 280SE 4.5 in the snow and it does very well. Thank you for watching.

With a bit of load in the trunk (50 - 70kg), traction/handling even on snow is not a problem anymore. Generally, the W123 handles very well.

@@kensshowtell I almost bought a 1982 200d with a sunroof, but while I was thinking about it, it was sold. Now there is a 2.3 automatic machine for sale in my city in 1976, without a sunroof, in not the best condition, but on the go. Inexpensive. Now again I think to buy, or wait until the end of the war. But, life goes on. Probably should buy it
