Agreed, my fav era of F1... Don't even watch it anymore as it's no comparison to 80's and 90's

If all you care about is a loud car and nice body watch NASCAR. F1 is about innovation and making things faster.

@@blainedickson747 Yeah well you are right....but its also about the show just like any other race event, and you can tell that the show is pretty much gone. Thats why now its just a full lab testing event for the new age of electric cars.

1995 412t2 is the best sounding V12 followed my the 1991 mcalren mp4-6

What about the matra v12, jag v12 , bmw v12, Lamborghini v12

Those didn't sound as good as the 412t2 and the mp4-6

Kieren Standen the V12 from the LMP is glorious too! I somehow prefer this but I agree , and the McLaren F1 GT1 , truly fantastic cars and a golden era for motor sports ! Cheers

NextGenPsychos ! Judd v10 spuds better but they all have there different sound jag was 7 litre doing 240 odd mph at Le Mans for 24 hours these are smaller engines . I say brick back all the v12 eg the Aston Martin v12 in the Lola

I was at the Dallas GP in 1984 and I thought they sounded better than today's hybrid V6 engines. Actually, I think the Brabham 4 cylinder BMW engine sounded the best. Then again, it's been years, so I may have a bit of memory failure from that far back. They were definitely goosebump material, that's for sure!

F1 this year sounds way better than before.

During the V10 era early 2000 everyone complained they wanted v12, during the v8 era mid 2000 to late 2000 everyone hated the sound and wanted v10 back. Now everyone wants the v8 back. In ten years your'e begging for the v6 we now have as they will be full electric.

Drank Bak What did people complain about in the V12 era?

@@miklepikle10 they would probably complain about normally aspirated engines being nowhere near to turbos in terms of power.

+AndreiTupolev i'm old enough to know that people glorify old stuff like it was divine. If you watch the short highlights and overtakes from back in the day and the sound you almost think it was perfect, but the races where actually pretty boring with always one dominant car, McLaren MP4, years later the Williams etc. Much like mercedes today. Pure racing wise i prefer modern f1, yes. 2018 had been a very entertaining year if you ask me. The design back then was better, simple and pure, yes. But f1 is about progression and innovation.

Anyway, taking the Italian GP as an example, since it's one of the few where they still use the same circuit, there seems to be only about 5 or 6 seconds difference in fastest qualifying lap.
