What a beautiful wagon! I absolutely love that Saddle interior!

I owned a 72, a 76, 81, 87 full sized Buick wagons and I currently have a 94 Roadmaster wagon with the Corvette LT1 engine. The first four I owned I put over 150,000 trouble free miles on them. They were great in snow and would haul anything you could get in them. My 87 had the smaller V8 in it and was underpoered on the Western Pennsylvania hills where I live. I love my 94 Roadmaster and just bought a ' new old stock' set of 4 Buick wire wheels from a fellow cleaning out his parents garage for $25.00 total. In the late 70's and 80's my older brother had several Volvo station wagons and I could not believe how much nicer my Buicks were. I also now have a 2007 Buick Lucerne with the big Northstar engine and is it sweet!!! My wife's elderly uncle recently entered a nursing home and got his 2010 Buick Lacrosse. All great cars. I love my Buicks!!!

Really nice. The red looks great. I always liked the lighter walnut wood paneling that Buick used (and on some later Caprices). GM should have offered the high-end seats as an option in the Olds and Buick wagons, like the loose pillow seats in the 98, Electra, and the later Caprice LS.

@Black Buick Yes, the 1985 88 Royale Brougham LS was really nice. I liked the seats in the later Caprice LS Brougham, too.

You mean 1984 of course. At least in the last few years you could get leather in the Estate Wagon, the only GM wagon that offered it until 1991. @Black Buick

It's also rated the most safest car in the world. There are safe cars out there but at that time Buick estate wagon was rated the most safest car in the world. That's right! The most safest car.

Regarding the over spray on the undercarriage I think that was done by the local body shop touching up some areas on the car. It looks too new to be original.

I've got one of these but it's a 1986 with 82k miles but it doesn't have the wood grain just one solid color, it has zero rust and is in perfect condition, the part of Ohio I live in you NEVER see these old cars so when I drive mine everyone looks twice. The weird thing is though I've had so many of these over the years I don't even think about how rare they are now because I'm thinking in the back of my mind there are still thousands of them everywhere even though there isn't.

Yeah, I agree. When I was a kid I remember seeing these on every street corner. Now they are long gone along with the dinosaurs.

That car today would be an almost $50k brand new. That paint is in sharp condition. Looks almost like red glass more than red paint.

Watch eBay, it has been discontinued by GM for over 10 years but it still shows up from time to time on there. The GM part number is 12309437 for a 90 inch long sheet or 12309436 for a 60 inch sheet both 20 inches tall. I got one a few years ago for my '90 Estate Wagon. It was peeling in front of the rear fender flare on an otherwise pristine car. My sheet matched perfectly as my car had obviously been garaged all its life and the existing vinyl hadn't faded at all. Had the installer not put it on upside down (there was a wider grain pattern at the top of all the panels that I pointed out to him) you would have never known anything had been done to the car! Otherwise you would have to try to find some vinyl that comes close to matching the original color if you are going to replace all of it (3M the original supplier to GM still makes a lot of woodgrain patterns in vinyl but unfortunately none of the automotive patterns the big three used). There are also specialty shops online that have duplicate copies of the OEM vinyl Di-Noc but I have heard the color is not an exact match and the quality would not be as high as OEM. It seems the Di-Noc GM used was not as high quality as what FoMoCo used at this time as it is very common to see Buick and Chevy wagons with peeling or badly faded woodgrain while the vinyl used by Ford and Mercury seems to hold up a lot better.
