Watch a full tutorial as a 2004 GMC Sierra / Chevy Silverado will have a brand new Pioneer MVH-210EX Double Din Touch Screen Radio installed. This install applies to both the Bose and non-Bose vehicles. We will also be retaining the factory steering wheel controls as well!

Me and my 2006 GMC Sierra could use some pro tips. You make that look so easy and talk about nice and neat. I just spent the last 4 hours trying to get a Digital radio to even turn on but that CRUX might be a blessing thanks for the free tips man. You got a number I might need you tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣

Great video the red wire did get me though , had to install a toggle switch to it as well as the ground have to flip it off and back on which allows DVD 📀 play as you drive

The interface box glitched my EMC twice. 1st cost me $200 plus tow and second time i figured it out. Remove interface box, wired off/on straight to radio!

Did this truck have the bose system from the factory? Ive heard that there are extra steps dealing with a factory preamp and that it isnt plug and play. And experience with that?

I would guess 3 feet is plenty for this use. The 6' cord is likely for running it to the back seat

What do you do with the remote wire on the pioneer side and the remote wire on the vehicle side? Can you use one or the other or do you have to splice them and leave a tail?

A bit old, but what about the flashing red light on the original radio? Does it only effects the radio security or it affects the cars ability to crank on?

Thank you so much for this video it is very informative and helpful. I recently purchased this Crux interface because of this video and installed an aftermarket radio (Atoto S7 XE) in my 03 GMC Sierra Denali with the Bose stereo everything went fine and functioned as it should. There is one issue that i cannot figure out the sound goes out if I'm doing things like switching functions and will not return unless I cycle the ignition key basically power cycling the unit. Do you have any advice or suggestions that I can try? All my wires are matched, soldered, and insulated with heat shrink.

I just removed that same factory radio from my 2006 Silverado and forgot to remove some CDs first. Can you tell me which pins I need to connect to on the back to power it up on the bench and get my CDs?

I wired my 04 Silverado exactly like this video using a Boss stereo.the stereo works fine but after a few minutes the back of the stereo gets so hot you can barely touch it what would cause this

Great Video. One question, my 2004 silverado has a microphone installed as part of the on star. is this not activated through the harness? will a new mic be required etc?

Generally it will be on it's own protected circuit, so an aftermarket one would be required to be installed in most instances.

Bought a harness from Walmart and it plugged into mine but when I got it all wired up the radio would not turn on Also I need to go buy the antenna extension as mine did not come with, would that prevent the stereo from turning on? Anything helps

Yeah I was wondering the same thing but it looks like it will most likely you're just going to have a few extra connections to go into the AV jacks into the back of the stereo at least I hope I'm going to give it a shot I think

Hey - thanks for this video, super helpful. I was just about to pull the trigger on all these parts for my 2004 Yukon XL, but I’m concerned that I would lose XM radio. Do you know if I used the same radio that you used, would I be able to keep XM? I can’t tell if that depends on the radio head unit or the wiring harness, or something else?

Hey there, yes, this requires you to have a radio that is XM radio ready, and you will also have to purchase the XM module to retain your service with the new radio. amzn.to/2WM1ULH. Nice! Thank you! I kind of figured out after poking around, both in terms of what “XM” ready means and the fact that you have to buy the tuner (and also how to wire it to the existing antenna). Do the higher-end stereos that are XM ready basically go in the same way, and would they use the same Crux wiring harness?

You only use the big 24 pin connector. Tuck the little 12 adaptor in the back of the dash and forget about it. the radio woks fine. I had to hook up my blue amp wire to the red positive to get sound. I used a Boss Stereo with the Crux.

Is it possible to install an aftermarket radio and retain steering wheel controls by just getting a harness adapter without the interface? I have a 2005 Z71 Chevy Avalanche and I don’t care about on star but would love to retain my steering controls. I’ve never had a stereo install and lose my key fob abilities but something about the Bose system just seems odd to me.

Thanks! I just bought a Sony XAV-AX1000 to put in my 05 1500 work truck. Any idea if I even need an interface box..? I don't have Bose, steering cntrl. or any of that. I'm also joking up a Fosgate 1200w amp w/2 Kicker CVR 10'S. I think I'm going to build a console box for them, we'll see! Love the idea for mounting the USB, that's cool! Thanks!

Hope you get to read my comment, turns out that I am installing a stereo on a 2005 Hummer h2, I was looking at the diagram and saw this car came with an amplifier from factory, it has the Bose system, y was wondering if I have to run new cables to the speakers so I bypass the amp, or if I can just connect the speaker signal just on the harness behind the stereo? Installing on a H2 here. Everything works for 6-10 min then I lose all audio, headunit still works. Once I restart H2 it all works again

I followed the wire diagram on my boss radio had all the same setup except bose stereo, steering wheel controls or onstar. After install everything works except my key fob to lock and unlock the truck. No blinking light on the dash either now. Any help would be appreciated!

Do I need to connect onstar to my 2006 Chevy 2500HD. I did not buy the connection to keep onstar. But i did but the connection to keep my steering wheel buttons. My diesel won’t crank over. I have to use starting fluid to get it to start

We usually put them at the top of the A pillar, but you could also install it net to the rear view mirror

Where did you plug in the RC jack into your radio from the usb port you installed on your dash?

USB port goes to the USB port on the radio. The AUX port went to the AUX port on the radio. If your radio doesn't have an AUX port on the back, then purchase a flush mount adapter with only a USB.

I wish you had gone through wire 4-wire what you already have matched up in the video so that people that have never done this can see exactly what you're doing if it's color for color . and I bought a double DIN Joy radio with front and rear camera which came with the which also had its own mounting kit and antenna adapter.

Found your videos and channel while browsing. Some confusion. I have a 2002 Yukon XL with steering wheel controls. Happy to use your Amazon links for everything, including Metra adapter from single to double din. Crux only shows 2003 for the adapter, and you don’t show the Bluetooth microphone part. Will any microphone work with that stereo? Will the adapter still work for the 2002 Yukon XL Denali with the Bose factory system? Appreciate a reply before I use your links👍

THANK YOU!!!! Already ordering the parts you have here. Question for you: My radio turns on, but I got no sound. Speakers make kind of low frequency heart beat noise in perpetuity. How do I test to see whether my speakers or my amplifier went out? I don't wanna pay diagnostic fee.

@Provo Beast Audio Installation I have an '04 1500 Silverado Crew cab. The door speakers say Bose on them. The factory headunit has 2 connectors one is a 24 pin. Also have rear view mirror with OnStar buttons...Can I get a harness without Onstar since I do not have active OnStar subscription? Head unit to install is Pioneer AVH-120BT. Thanks

I was able to get all connected. It powered up when I turned on the ignition, but it no longer has power. I replaced the fuse in back of the radio, but it still doesn't turn on anymore. What's my next diangosis?

Ok the hook up seems easy. But I noticed u didn't have to program your Bluetooth deck. I also have a Chevy Tahoe but I have a wire harness similar to the one u put in. Mines I bought the guy told me I hav to program the Bluetooth deck n I have a black box the has a light on it that's supposed to turn green when everything is hooked up probably.

Since the Crux kit comes with an antenna adapter, is the seperate GM extension required?

2004 Denali, factory Bose system. Installed Kenwood DMX970S. Crux kit extension works just fine. But the stock antenna cable has enough length on its own. Bose stereo has 2 connectors on the back, crux kit only hooked up to the larger of the two connectors. Stereo works fine, but no steering wheels controls. Will update once I figure that out.

You can get a more simple version as you will still need one with the smart harness module for accessory and other necessary functions. you would need the Crux SOCGM-17 harness.

So the vss wire and parking brake wire. If i get the pac rp5-gm11, rp4-gm11, or rp3-gm11 so i connect noth parking brake wires and vss wires to each other? So basically do i connect the parking brake wire on the head unit to the parking brake wire on the rp3, rp4, rp5 and same with the vss wire?

You have to buy an adapter that splices it into one of the auxiliary wires (the ones he didn't use and put red covers on) and it would be accessed in the "accessory" or "auxiliary" portion of your radio. Make sure the radio you buy supports it
