Just put in a radio in my 02 Silverado 1500. The install was pretty easy, the only trouble was running the microphone and the 2 rear usb cables. Now to design and 3d print connectors for them. :)

I am seriously considering this unit for my 2002 2500HD (9 inch version) but just saw that Apple carplay requires it to be wired. That is not a deal breaker, but my new car has wireless Apple carplay, and it sure is nice. Any units by sony or anyone else with wireless carplay? Great job on explaining the install though. Thanks

Test fitted a pioneer double din it didn’t go all the way in and the dash bessel would fit good on the left side but it wouldn’t sit right on the right side even with the stereo off the Bessel would hit the left side of the stereo

Why do others show having to change the internal metal frame that holds the deck and climate control to the dash? I don’t get that, if all you need to change is the plastic over their front like here???

Where were the yellow and red wire running from? I’m pretty sure this is a common thing to do on 2002 Chevy’s to get correct power due to that amp in the glove box

Can you use the wiring harness from the aftermarket stereo you already had in?

Too bad the aftermarket ones have the smooth finish and not the "wrinkle" finish to match the rest of the stock trim.

I have 4 wires left over (2 greys, a purple/white and a dark blue (I assume antenna)). I have power to my unit, but sound does not come through the speakers. On my head unit, I have antenna, reverse and park left over. Any ideas?

Good morning, I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT 4x4 Extended cab and when I purchased it (used) it didn't have a radio, sooo... My question is what do I do when someone cut the radio harness all the way back to just under the steering wheel? I want to install a double din like in this video. It also doesn't have speakers. Should I just go to a junkyard and look for the complete radio harness or just add wire to the somewhat existing harness?

Can anyone help me out, 1999 Yukon Denali with Bose, I swapped in an aftermarket unit in place of the factory radio and used the metra harness all wired up easily and have power to the whole system, but my issue is The Volume is Way Too Loud at like 1!? Am I missing something some kind of module, interface, Special wiring harness? Aftermarket unit has 2 RCA outputs, everything works fine but sounds Overpowered. Not ready for amp and sub add-on just yet so don't want to bypass.. TY

You don't need a full dash piece you can use the metra kit for 2002 cadillac escalade kit for yukon,chevy,escalade I've installed it plenty of times

My silverado has a tape deck below it that is separate from the radio. Does that affect anything when installing a new radio?

I installed mine and wired everything per the diagrams. I have one problem. I have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL meaning I have 6 speakers in total only 4 of them play sound/music the middle section/row doesn’t play. Is there a solution for this?

It's shit, this applies only to 2003 onwards. Not as the title of the video said. a double din stereo, does not fit in the 99-02 pikc-up.
