Be organized and methodical. Do one at a time so you don’t mix up parts and can reference an untouched carb if you forget. It is pretty simple. Clean clean clean! They can never be too clean.

@@chrisvernon-jy1cmit starts right up now, idles great and has a much snappier throttle response. Like he said, you can't clean them too much. Make sure every gasket and o-ring is in place. They really are very easy to rebuild.

Check the Air Adjust needle. (Note this is the needle that is situated outside of the petrol bowl). Mine was idling poorly and I found this needle was missing the metal washer and rubber O ring. They are VERY small. And they can hide inside the needle hole. Need a picker to retrieve them. But mine needed replacing. They were missing. Relocation is Spring on first then metal washer then Rubber O ring. Watch they don't fall off when reinstalling them.

great video on carbs those looked very clean. my pilots seem to foul very quickly these days and there is always residue on the bottom of the bowls

My suggestion is to run good premium gas. By good i mean ethanol free. Ethanol brakes down and gums things up super quickly when it sits.

I just rebuilt the carb for my DRZ. First carb rebuild I’ve ever done. Im glad my bike has only one and not four 😅

at 17:17 measuring the bowl float heights I think the carbs have to be level to get an accurate reading.

Hi, Regarding the replacement of the jets ... When you put the new ones in do you tighten then up till they turn no more i.e. tightly.
@thepursuit844

Snug them up tight yes. Don’t crank down on them though as they are only brass.

My ZX9R 2003 carbs won't tolerate super unleaded fuel. Only runs well on cheap unleaded.

My 1990 ZX10 is running very rich. The manual says the pilot screw is the air mixture screw. But it's located on the engine side of the carb. Just like yours in the video. Does that mean they are actually the fuel and not the air mixture screws? So I should turn them out from all the way seated maybe 1/2 a turn less than what they were originally set to?
@thepursuit844
@thepursuit844 Жыл бұрын
If your bike is way rich then you will have to rejet the carbs. The screws are only for super fine adjustment, between jet sizes. See my syncing video for more on that. I don’t recall if these ones control air or fuel.

Any idea how to remove the emulsion tubes on these carbs?
@thepursuit844
@thepursuit844 2 жыл бұрын
They are probably pressed in. So you’d have to carefully press them out.

Do you have to count turns on the jets so when they go back in they are the same?
@thepursuit844
@thepursuit844 2 жыл бұрын
No. The jets get screwed in tight. They aren’t adjusted like that. If you need more or less fuel you install a bigger or smaller jet.

@@thepursuit844 do you know if that's the same for the zx6r f1-f3 95-98?

That should be the same for any jet in any carb as far as I know.
