Wow sounds like you have some work on your hands Ken....Ill be honest I've never had electrical problems (apart from the alarm glitch) but sound like it just going to be a process of illumination ...checking the power is getting to the places it needs to be and then the parts are good too, to my knowledge the pump has power to it all the time as its a pressure Syphon type so as soon as you turn the key you should here it strike up if its empty as they are quite loud....Maybe if you are getting power too it run some WD40 through it as it can get fur;d up like the crabs...Of course you can simply use an external source Syphon method to strike it up, but that's not very practical going done the road 😆

@@AdeReeves Thank you for taking the time to provide the detailed reply, very much appreciated. Once I installed the new relay and confirmed that the pump was getting power as you suggested, I replaced the fuel filter and she fired right up. Thank you again!

Hi...From what i can see they go to two tubes under the headlight that are used to sucking air under initial acceleration .... it all seems a bit over complicated and unnecessary to be honest but you can hear a they are defiantly gathering air when you throttle back... I really don't know if this is emissions related and you said or a primary route until the ram air system gets going ....but i would say as long as the pipe can draw cold air from somewhere all would be good.

Unfortunately...Due to the pandemic & the silly rules the government are imposing the RC side is not so active anymore....In fact considering stripping the 600 / 700 soon and only keeping a few, but it the rules change again....That could all change ...gotta love the "Drone law"

I would say its a fair diagnostic... maybe try taking teh air filter out and giving them a good blast like i did ....a lot of carb cleaner on the rubbers isn't great, so maybe hit them with WD 40 first while running and see it that helps... try using your hand over the intake mouth while you rev it as well to create some extra vacuum ....might just do the trick . :)

Depends how you ride it , but i usually get around 130-150 miles per tank

@AdeReeves I really baby it I go at most 80mph so idk why the fuel economy would be so low

it could be a perished vacuum hose .. but it's Probably time to whip the carbs off an inspect them... could be a slit vacuum diaphragm / stuck butterfly, but impossible to say without the carbs off .

Mate, the spark plugs are the last thing I'd worry about. Your fuel system will need your full attention first. Drain and clean the tank, then your fuel lines, replace the fuel filter and if your able to clean the carbs. Do all this and it will fire up straight away. I had a 94 and had it storage for several years too just like you and I had no choice but to do what I mentioned.

@@tonymontana897 I just bought a 2k model only two days ago, it has been off the road since 2013-2014 as a project through two owners, that was all done and it fires up and runs great.

@@HalfdeadRider Good to hear man. You can't just think to one aspect of this important maintenance. Start from the top and work your way down. I hope your project wasn't one of those street fighter conversions. Arrghh how I hate those !!

@@tonymontana897 No mate it's like it just rolled off the showroom floor pretty much. With a few mods, Delkevic exhaust, K+N Air filter, very nice smoked screen and some levers. @@HalfdeadRider Nice mate. Exactly how I like them. Some mods can be tasteful but others aren't. I have a 2001 with less than 5k on the ODO. It is literally like new ! I keep it well maintained even though I keep it stored. These bikes are going to become proper classics some day and anyone who knows anything about them will want one. I'll head over and take a look man. Where abouts are you located ?

If it's not been starting in 5 years sir...i would go through everything ....change the oil / plugs check the air filter and probably crank it over with the plugs out first ...maybe even spray some oil in the plug holes to make sure you don't run the bores dry...

Did you find a solution to your issue Liam? Im having the same issue. Taken the pilot jets out and blew them clear, runs better on tick over, but still really struggles when riding.

Yes carbs it was all fully cleaned and riding better now . 1 other thing check you fuel filter my bike was playing up again last week different fuel filter sorted 👌

I made a promise to myself to ride it more this year , as it's surprising how quick fuel goes off...

I've done 2k so far this year was bloody fuel line that was knackered she back purring waiting for carb rebuild kit and rubbers that go to engine then she be tip top
