Very cool swap. I'm a Cummins guy but that is also a very good option for repowering a pickup. I've never really messed with the international engine but they seem to hold up pretty good In medium duty trucks. Looks like a tight fit very well done!

Pump is set up in the 350-400hp range, it is still an A-pump, built with 10mm plungers (biggest you can get for an A-pump), stock was 9.5mm. The governor and springs were swapped 3400rpm. The injectors have new nozzles and bodies, 4x0.018. Serp swap was easier than I expected, about a day in total to fab all the parts. Right now stock valve springs are in it, will be swapping to new springs soon.

Looks sweet I would like to built one for a 78 f350 cclb project truck but it seems that there is more info for 1000-2000hp then 400-1000 hp with the dt's but I was wanting to use a med. trans for the stock superior strength and ease of mounting since it would be all stock sae 2 so that would save an expensive bill with Carson lol but with all power adders how much was everything besides the trans fitment and I'm including everything it took for gauges

34486 none were a 466. Its a 445 if you mean the 7.3, and a dt360 is a 5.9 liter 360

This is the cleanest swap I’ve seen yet! What’s your mpg like? These things get 10mpg stock but in a very heavy truck frame. I’d be happy with 12 :)

Followed your progress on PSN, man can i just say what you have acomplished is something i have been planning to do for 3-4 years ( im 17). Been planning to do the DT360 in a 80's F350 hooked to Eaton-Fuller roadranger OD 10-speed tranny. The tranny and engine are a direct bolt up cuz they have the same bellhousing pattern. First gear is 16:1 going all the way to .75:1 in 10th gear (OD). Wanted to do a compound turbo like you did with yours but with an HX35 to an HX40. Unfortunatly i havent even begun to start that as im working on a '98 ranger to VW 2.0L TDI conversion, trading out the 2.3L Lima 4 banger for the VW. 45mpg with a Ford Ranger. If 45-50 MPG isn't motivation then i dont know what is. Kudos on your build and congrats from me.

kyle walker why not go hx35 to hx55 if ur doing compounds....itd clean up 4-500 hp with no egt problems. My dream truck would be a 79 bronco with a 10 speed and a hopped up dt360. Im 16 tho with no income haha i gotta settle for a 125hp tired diesel mercedes lol

Riley Kirk, true those two would work out well. instead of the VW I went with an OM617 turned up the pump a little, running an HX35, till I get around to putting a bigger one on.gets 36 hwy/32city. 300hp, 460ft-lbs torque.

Its not the stock pump. Took a P-pump from a cummins 6bt and using a homemade adapter plate and disabling the 6th plunger. Its freaking cool.

kyle walker did you make a custom camshaft for the plungers? every injection is 135 degrees if i remember correctly for a 6 cylinder....and like 160 something for a 5 cylinder. sounds sweet.

Hey Randy Magnum you’re delusional if you think any of those motors is better than a DT 466 for getting power out of! They are easiest and cheapest engine to make power with, that’s the reason there’s so dam many of them in pulling tractors. And as far as the blocks splitting that has mostly happened with when they exceed 300 lbs of boost with 3-4 chargers on Diesel super stocks. If you’re trying to compare a 5.9 to one of those you’re in for a rude awakening. There’s a reason no one pulls them in tractors and it’s not because they’re superior but far from it

I did'nt know it was legal to use an older engine in an emissions vehicle. Can you get this inspected ? Because if you can , there are a lot more trucks that can benefit from a engine swap! Please let me know. Also will a DT466, the older one, work to? I think the 466 is only a few inches longer...

There is a Facebook group for these DT engines. They can help. You can but there will be alot of electrical sensors that will need to be delt with. With the 6.0 I'd highly suggest having it bulletproofed and the egr deleted. And get an older gas truck to swap the dt360 into.

An international dt360 - dt550 is none other than a 5.9 Cummins obs which makes for perfect Cummins engine swap for Ford F-250 and F350 and other pickup trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado Nissan Titan And Toyola Tundra

Frame will not hold up to heavy. Need 1 ton frame.

Angelo Zararis The 1 ton frame isn’t as strong as what I did to the f100 frame, I’ve been welding and fabricating for over 10 years. The f100 frame worked out nicely.
