Thank you for the great guidance in this video. I was able to successfully install a new blower motor resistor in our 2010 Ford Escape XLT. Much respect to "real" mechanics, as I found it difficult to position my body, fingers, and tools in the tight spaces. I did it, but found myself visualizing the 8mm bolts as I worked the ratchet from an odd angle. Thanks again!

Hello Lucas, I was having the same problem I found it difficult also, guess what I found an easier way to install the resistor There is a pop-out side panel on the right side of the glove box, I popped it out grabbed my special flashlight then I peeped in the port and I was able to see the resistor, connector wire assembly and the 2 screws, using a very small ratchet about 4 inches long and an 8mm socket I was done in no time, I simply popped the side-panel back in place. I might add I positioned my flashlight in the glove box area where I didn't have to hold it, and peeping through the port hold where I could see everything, I also noticed that some guys/gals may have to drill 2 additional holes for the pivot pins that hold the resistor in place

Awesome! Thank you! One hint is to remove the transistor by taking the two bolts out first, THEN you remove the plug. Much easier that way and no pick required.

Blower motor resistor is the only problem area with my Escape, they only last about 3 years. Replacement is fairly easy and this video is helpful.

HI, thank you for the great video. i had the similar issue ( fan was not working at 1,2 and 3) setting) and i was thinking about ordering it but when i checked my Resistor using voltmeter it seemed to be working fine. so i just used the lens cleaning liquid ( for no particular reason, it was just there on the shelf) and clean the surface with paper towel, plug it back again and it started working again. i am not sure how long it is going to last but before you order it try doing that if your resistor looks fine and has no corrosion or damage. also don't change your part because there is a huge blister on the chip, that huge blister is the heat sink and it is suppose to be there. hope it helps.

Very helpful... except the resistor that I bought from 1A Auto for my 2012 Ford Escape did not have the same pin registration holes as the original. I bought my new resister from 1A Auto because of the excellent tutorial you provided on KZfaq, even though I found replacement resisters for lower cost elsewhere. You can imagine my disappointment to discover the new resistor did not drop in. (I drilled out alignment pin holes to match the old one and inserted the new one.) Thanks again for your great video posting. Once I got the alignment pin issue sorted out (not much of a problem actually, but one did need to use a 3/16 drill). The new unit is installed and the fan WORKS!!!... 🙂

We have a 2012 Escape. It has dual controls. There resister is I the same location,but is different then what is shown in this video.

I swapped this resistor on my 2012 ford escape having the exact same issue. Sadly it didnt fix it. I ordered one off amazon do you think its possible the new one is bad or could it be possible its something else or could I test the resistor some how?

So if this didnt work.. in a 09 escape what else could be the issue. Mine was doing the exact same, only blew air on high or 4 and now it doesnt work at all even with the new part. Please help!! 😐😆

Word of advice: Be Gentile!! I cracked the new one I put in.. it's like ceramic or something!! My new one only works on 3 and high now .. but it's better than only high

There’s a different part number for the auto temp control. You can find it in any auto parts

Today july 19 2020 I replaced the same part.on my 2008 escape But even before I changed out this part The ac/heat worked all on high speeds So speed 1. Was like speed 4. I'm confused. Do I need a new hvac switch ( the part under the radio ) or what I hate American cars. I never should've bought this junk suv. Fix Or Repair Daily.
