I am not a Mustang guy but there is just something about an older 5.0 with a set of Flowmaster Original 40s. One of the best sounding setups out there.

Probably the best edited exhaust comparison video out there. nothing sounds like a 5.0 fox with a 40 on it. Brings back memories of my teens when every billy badass had a fox with 3" flows dragging the ground lol.

Negligible difference, both sound good!

Nice comparison. Hard to discern a real difference with my computer speakers except maybe a bit more bass resonance in the OG 40. All-in-all with both you get that classic fox-body sound. The Pavlovian bell of all street scene knuckle draggers of the mid and late 90's. Those were the days.

Exhaust is a very personal thing, you almost have to try it yourself,i have seen exhaust reviews were someone says " these things are loud" and the guy below says, man these mufflers are real quiet"😂. Your video is excellent man, to the point, no gimmicks.

Original 40's just sound better overall. I had 44's then switched back to original 40's. Hard to explain but 44's have a almost generic sound while the originals are more throaty and crisp.

I put Super 44's on my 89 Saleen just recently. I still have the original 40's that came with it. They have dumps welded to them. I may put them on my 92 coupe when it gets back from being reconditioned. It has straight magnaflows on it now.

Had the 40s.. The American thunder catback exhaust on two fox bodies and they sounded absolutely amazing..idle ,cruise ,wot all them were great ..

I love the way both of them sound I was always a big fan of the 40 series flowmasters

I think original 40s were literally made by the car god to bolt behind a 302 in a fox body. They never would have been popular otherwise lol

Man, not much difference but maybe 40’s are a bit deeper but still just as loud? Very close. Had 40’s on my 02 Mustang and they were perfect

I got a 93 fox and i had these with a off road hpipe and the stock tail pipes but it never sounded the same as my dads 95 cobra or even these. Can someone explain how i can get this sound.

That's crazy didn't think anyone would have a comparison like this. They sounded almost identical?? I have the older 40 2 chambers and I'm trying to figure what way to go for something just a little quieter.. by I'm sorta looking at just adding resonators.

Did you notice any difference in the interior noise, more specifically if either muffler has any drone or boomy resonance that happens at certain RPM’s?

FixBody, Thanks for your time and work making this Great video. I'm going to change my exhaust around on my Camaro and I've been reading watching a ton on KZfaq.. Cars and Bikes take on owners personality, that's what makes them GREAT. In my option a V8 sounds better than any 6or4 cyl. regardless the price tag. Your not going to put a muffler on a stock truck and it become a Monster Truck.. or a muffler on a stock car and it sound like a Pro Street monster. But mufflers are cheap and easy and that's what people do hoping for the same results. With all of that being said...I think the 40/44 sounds close on THIS mostly stock car on the outside of the car. I'm curious to your option and others... about theses 2 mufflers INISIDE the car. ???? In the flowmaster lineup I like the 40/44/10 for the Muscle Car sound. Not driving everyday but on weekend/shows etc. I'm "old school" so I think a Muscle Car. Should sound thump look like a Muscle Car.

To be honest, you should try the outlaw series with the dumps. I installed them on mine and it’s insane!

I did 2 Flowmasters super 44 on my 85 vette , i have a small cam with long tube headers , i also made all new 2.5" exhaust with xpipe and i have to say i am not really happy with the sound ,sounds good at idle however i am getting a pretty decent amount of drone on low rpms and lots of vibration on the back hatch ,definitely sounds good on wot but it is a bit to loud for me idk maybe i am just getting to old😂

Do you have different mid pipes or headers? Or are they factory? And also, it sounds like you have a slight cam in there?

You said no difference in interior sound or drone what about power? Flowmaster say the Delta Flow mufflers make more power so the 44 should make a little more than the original 40.

if i want mine to sound good do i need to take the cats off or could i save money and leave them on?

They sound the same but I feel the 40 In the last clip was better

You can't really hear much difference in these mufflers until you get into a built motor. If your motor is pretty mild or stock, then save the money and just go with the 40's, but if you have a big cam and stuff, then you will notice it much more and have more bark with the 44's.

Nice video, I bet if you make this video into a short and upload it around 11:45 am PST you will get alot of views. Also ad foxbody mustang exhaust in the name. it will help. The reason why I say 11:45 am PST is bc everyone on the west coast will be just starting thre lunch, Central time will be ending their lunch soon, and east coast will be getting home soon.

I got a cammed 1987 4runner choppy aggressive sound. what i install a cherry bomb glass pack or thrush glass pack or go with 40 series???
