We are continuing our series on often misinterpreted verses. Many have hit us with this verse in the comment section. Let's explain it! Is 2 Corinthians 5:17 a verse that supports the Lordship Salvation and Calvinist viewpoint of progressive sanctification?

I pray everyone understands that it's The Power of God that saves us. Nothing of us. Jesus saved us the second we believed in what He did for us. Thank You Lord Jesus 🙌🏼🩵✝️

This is such wonderful truth for the believer to understand. Thanks for teaching it so clearly Brother Jesse! I hope people will seek this truth in their own studies. God promises if we seek His truth we will find it (Matt. 7:7-8). Paul makes the distinction between the "old man" and the "new man" in Ephesians 4. By careful study of verse 24 we can understand that which God "created" is the same as the "new creature" in 2 Cor. 5:17. "That which is born of the Spirit is spirit" (Jn. 3:6), the "new creature" is that which is born of God. It is "created in righteousness and true holiness", because of His "imputed" righteousness to the believer when we are made one with Christ spiritually. When we're made "one spirit" with Christ, we have no sin because we are *in Him*, and *in Him* is no sin! We are spiritually "set apart" from the world and sin, in Christ! It's through His body that we are sanctified. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Eph. 4:24 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 1 Jn. 3:5 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:21

Please explain Roman's 6 - 22 . Most know 6- 23. But 22 talks about. But now Being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Could you possibly flesh this out for me and others. Thank you

A good thing to notice in Romans 6-8 is the contrast between sin bringing death and serving Christ bringing life. Paul is not contrasting this as an example of how to be saved, but it is the principle the Christian ought to understand. Sin only ever brings death and consequences there alike. Living for Christ (walking in the Spirit) will always bring forth life (rewards, reaching others, etc…). Notice we are already “freed from sin” through Jesus Christ. We are no longer condemned. The “fruit unto holiness” is what we bear when we choose to serve the Lord. Clearly from the chapter, the opposite is possible for the believer. I believe the statement “the end everlasting life” is just a general statement of fact. This is what we have. We must be careful to claim verses as ALWAYS talking about a way of obtaining salvation into eternal life. Context is important. He’s talking about the already saved person should no longer LIVE in sin. BUT (sadly) it is possible and happens. - Trent

The word should in Ephesians 2 and verse 10 is communicating a probability not a certainty What is a certainty is that the Lord will intervene in your life

I think that Calvinist believe that God chooses who will come to faith in Christ where as the Arminian person believes that God brings them to the point of decision but the person must make a choice to receive the grace offered or not. What is your position on this does God choose who will be saved from eternal damnation or does this decision rest to any degree with the person making a free will choice for salvation. Thanks in advance.

A person is free to believe. After they believe, they are eternally secure. Calvinism and Arminianism are false. See John 3:15-18. - Trent

If a changed life isn’t necessary evidence of salvation why does Jesus say that if we don’t forgive others God will not forgive us? Doesn’t that seem to prove the case that certain evidences follow the truly saved? One of these evidences, based on that, seems to be that true believers in Christ will forgive others. This isn’t adding work to salvation. It’s the fruit that salvation produces.

Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

If we are in the spirit why not female Pastors?

There is no gentle way to say this so please don't be offended.... But Most Not All... But most women are led by their feelings and not biblical facts of what the Authority of the Word of God says about the matter 1 Corinthians 11:3-12, 14:34-35, 1 Timothy 2:11-15 and Titus 1, 2... Take your time and read these facts that are revealed by the Spirit of God and let Him teach and guide you to Biblical truth on this subject. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 1 Timothy 2 I'm not trying to be rude or bias toward women but they are easily manipulated by the evil one.... Again not all there is exceptions. But anyone with common sense can easily run with these modern woman pastors are saying through the KJB and see all the wrong doctrine they teach... If a person is living in the Spirit they will want to know what the Authority is on the Matter, the Pure words of God the KJB and let Gods words mold their view and never the other way around... But since people has a dual nature after salvation... the Spirit and the Flesh.... it is clearly a sign that not everyone is walking in the Spirit of God. Not saying they are not saved... who knows... Just saying if you LOVE GOD & HIS WORDS you will want to feed His Sheep correctly and with right biblical doctrine... and try your best to not go against His words. So just the fact that the bible teaches that a women is not to teach should tell you something... Read ---> 1 Timothy 2:12

Hey brother, under the Law of Moses, are you saying that obedience plus faith saved them? Wouldn't that make a different gospel for them which is not one of faith? It is my understanding that the just shall live by faith no matter what dispensation they were under. Galatians 2:21 tells us "I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, Christ is dead in vain." So from Adam and Eve to the cross, they looked forward to the coming Redeemer, where we look back to Him, but it's still by faith. The Law was given to the nation of Israel, and anyone who didn't live by it received condemnation, but not damnation to hell if they were believers though they may have broke the Law of Moses. I'm reminded of Saul and his sons who were indeed wicked, but Samuel told Saul that they would be with him the next day. Though they were scoundrels, they were saved scoundrels. lol I used to be into Lordship Salvation for over 30 years, but a friend told me about Samuel's prophecy to Saul, and showed me eternal security from that account. That planted a seed that got me out from the Arminian point of view. Thanks.
