I have another video on my channel talking about this battery. My previous tests went well beyond the imbalance of the cells inside which didn't affect capacity for me. I come back after having used the battery for a few months with more seasoned thoughts.

I'm glad I only bought 1 of these. My AC charger will keep cycling when it gets cutoff unable to reach 14.6v on this battery.. I contacted the seller, last I heard he was working on a "forced balancing board, not a BMS".

Don’t know why I didn’t think of that as an end all solution. That fixes the balancing and the max current issues all at once. And yeah, much less than a battleborn, just requires a little surgery.

Glad I waited on these. I just about bought them. Thanks for being diligent on your review. I’m sure an upgraded BMS with a integrated balance would do these cells some good. But that’s a lot of solder.

I’m working on testing just that, thankfully only had to solder the main negative leads in and out of the battery. But those could just have easily been done with crimp couplers.

After seeing your original video about this battery over 5 months ago, I bought 4 of these and up until a few weeks ago they have been fine. Since then my Go Power ic 3000 inverter sometimes beeps 3 times and then shuts down on high voltage safety. So one or more of these batteries are not balanced properly. Please continue your research and post a new video with information to correct the imbalance situation. Thanks in advance

I added the same balancer to my global power and it works great! I wired it directly to the battery leads with ring terminals. It was a huge Pain getting to these! Had to pull out the cells and cut through the wrap. I also added the W1209 thermostat and a switch to the balancer so it will not balance below freezing. I use this battery in the winter to run a diesel heater to warm my tent so cold temp shutoff is important. I thought about just pig tailing like you did but After doing research I was concerned the 22awg wires global power provided wouldn’t be able to handle the 5 amps the balancer could potentially push… The wires provided with the balancer are a larger gauge (I can’t remember the size off hand). Do you think splicing into the smaller 22awg could potentially be I unsafe? The balancer can push 5.5amps if it needed to. I couldn’t find a solid answer of how many amps 22awg can handle in this specific scenario… I also upgraded the BMS to the Bluetooth Battery Hookup BMS. The Bluetooth feature is awesome. I can monitor the exact percentage of battery life. My battery and mods are working just fine and cells stay within a delta of .005 volts. It’s still annoying that this battery didn’t come as advertised… Thanks for the video!

The 5a current point is valid. I was thinking about this a little the other day as those leads aren’t even fused in any way. In any battery I’ve worked on. I’ve only measured up to 1.2a with the balancer. And after the initial balance should never be very much. Your point stands though. Replacing with a JBD is a no brained that I should have started with. Honestly with that the active balancer should be superfluous. Passive via the bms would/should be perfectly fine to keep up with any slight imbalance.
@Bumataur
@Bumataur 2 жыл бұрын
@@BeeneEnergy It’s a pretty solid BMS! I highly recommend it with the BT module! With the active balancer turned off and BMS alone balancing I can achieve a delta of .010 volts. It really fights for it during the last moments of the charge. I just take it to 14.4v to be safe. I tried for a lower delta but the BMS really struggled. For a BMS to be able to balance it within .010v isn’t bad at all. It’s also nice being able to change all the parameters with my phone. I can successfully get to 14.6 volts with the active balancer switched on with no high voltage lockouts.

Did yours come with the sheet of paper in each box? It shows 14.4/14.6 as full but they typically won’t charge above 13.8v. Yours likely don’t have a balancer inside. If you reach out to the seller he might provide one for each battery as well as a video showing how to install, that will help.

@@BeeneEnergy Hi Beene Energy, I bought them used, got nothing with them. They were at 80% charge at purchase. I soldered the crappy clamps on the flex solar today, seems to be working better. This is my first solar experiment, don't have a clue about lithiums and have set the PWM to B04 (4 wire for lack of a 3 wire setting). The PWM will not allow change in settings when set at B04, I think it's set at 13.7V max. I've watched your videos detailing the adding of balancers and equalizers, also the one where you tore them all out of your battery box. I was hoping , since I am using in parallel, with a 5k giandi msw inverter, I wouldnt have quite the problems of serial connected batteries. I enjoy your channel, I am a fix it yourself kind of guy, more power to ya and thanks for the vids!

one more thing, the FlexSolar is now charging, got up to 13.4v and the GP now says 100%, Gonna try it out with a couple of freezers, what percentage should I let the batteries run down to? 50%?
@ericklein5097
@ericklein5097 Жыл бұрын
@@gheenoeshomfer4982 you can let LiFeP04 run down to zero but it’s generally accepted that to optimize cycle life it’s best to not take them below 10% For most 12V LiFeP04 batteries the 4 3.2V cells will have a minimum voltage of 2.5V, some 2.0V. Voltage does not relate to capacity in a linear fashion. 10% remaining State of Charge is something like 2.8V on a 2.5V minimum cell. The charge/discharge graph for these batteries is very flat except for the very top and very bottom which are referred to as the “knees” because they drop at nearly a 90 degree angle (probably a 70 degree angle from 2.9V to 2.5V

I had one do that in my latest video. I think it was a failed bms. If the battery discharges all the way a standard 12v battery charger should wake it up. If you’re using a Solar charge controller you need to jump start the battery as the charge controller has to boot before it starts charging.

@Waterfoulfreak2131 @BeeneEnergy have you been able to get your battery to take a charge? I have a 36v trolling motor so I have 3 of these in series and last spring I installed the free balance board offered by the seller. They have been great up till Monday when after a day of using spot lock in heavy wind they quit. @BeeneEnergy it’s a variable speed motor when on spot lock, constantly adjusting speed to keep boat in one spot. I would estimate amp draw varying between 10 and 50 amps, constantly changing as it varies speed to keep on spot. Im using a MinnKota PC460 charger and none of them will take a charge. The current voltage on all 3 vary between 11.3 and 11.9v, so above the 10v cutoff as stated in battery specs that would require a wake up. I hooked fully charged batteries to 2 of them overnight to bring them up, but still won’t take a charge from the PC460. It tries, but then cuts out. Any ideas? All 3 bms fried?? I appreciate your response!

@@ggggg4030 So full blast you'd be pulling 80-90a. There is a possibility you'll trip a BMS. If in fact you ended up with a bad batch one like this one battery i tested. In which case it'd be perfectly reasonable to get a refund/replacement. However if you went with 2kw so that you'd be able to start a refrigerator/window-ac and you won't hit 2kw continuous I wouldn't worry about sitting at 90a. You'll probably be 20a or less most of the time.
