As a food scientist, I can tell you that supplements do not substitute a healthy diet, not trying to be a party pooper ofc, they MIGHT help with deficiencies or in other special cases but you still gotta think about what you eat.

Hi Mike and Matty, I just wanted to say thank you for saving my life. For some context, I did really well in highschool, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and I didn't have any problem with doing exams. When entering in college, I faced so many challenged on my first semester and I felt lost and I wanted to give up. I knew I wanted to go into medicine but I didn't feel as smart as my peers. But I came across your channel because I wanted to give it a last shot on finding a way to do well in school. It was hard to apply but I began implementing your study strategies and used the program remnote and it really saved me. I not only started doing well on my exams but I felt more confident in myself again that I could pursue medicine in the future. Your videos saved my life and made me feel confident again and I wanted to thank you for that.

Reading and writing notes was what made me get perfect grades, I would rewatch the same video multiples times and write what I understood and just like that I would remember the stuff, I tried to just study normally and most stuff wouldn't stick.

actually it depends, if it's theory you might use the active recall method(more efficient), but if it's something practical like maths you should take notes of the most important things

social media should not be in the daily category. it _should_ be in the "give up forever" category, or at the very least "once a week" for a serious student. social media offers nothing of value.

Habit 1: Don't study on your bed. What to do if I have got only a bed and a few racks as furniture though? I live in a rented dormitory near college and I have only got a bed and a few racks as furniture. I have purchased a small tool like table where I can study by keeping it on top of the bed but I have absolutely no space to accommodate a proper study table. What to do in this situation?

My sunlight alarm clock (plus changing a few of the other bad habits mentioned here) has totally changed me! Now I'm (usually) up right after the lamp starts to light - and long before the radio starts. Have really changed a downwards spiral into an upwards spiral for me!

Yes, I thought I was doomed to never changing for me as well, having to drag myself a bit too late out of bed every morning for so many years. Took me 38 years to get to this though, but SO happy I finally managed. Not sure what did the most for me as I did many small changes about the same time, but think that my alarm clock with the light in combination with higher levels of vitamin D, better excersicing habits (started lifting weights x2 a week) and getting rid of some back pain, + changing my evening routines really helped. Allways had trouble going to sleep before - and constantly getting too few hours each night. Now I'm asleep mostly 15 minutes tops after going to bed - getting 7-8 hours each night. It's a complete new life!!! Btw I tried some of those apps you need to solve a math question in order for the alarm to stop.. :p But that did only make me angry. Think those alarms that drives away only would get me just as furious! :p

For me multi-tasking would be in the absolutely worst category. You don't get into the learning flow and have to bring yourself back to learning several times. I'd say that I need the double amount of time for the same result if I multi-task.

@EpiCuber7
@EpiCuber7 2 жыл бұрын
that's rough. and probably not sustainable tbh :( hope you can try to find a way to make your study more efficient to save time; resting may be a significant part of this because if you are continually working without giving your brain a rest, your brain will be worn out and the study you do will be exponentially less efficient! Take it easy, from someone who has struggled with studying far too much in the past also
@padarousou
@padarousou Жыл бұрын
@@EpiCuber7 There's 168 hours in a week and 70 isnt even half of that so its really not that bad. I used to work 2 jobs 25-40 hours a week riding my bike there for commute, full time student, and taking care of my old man no sweat. If you are truly determined to making the most out of your life, then these things happen naturally

listening to music while driving is technically not multitasking. According to the working memory model as psych people here probably know, your brain can typically handle one visual based task and one audio based task simultaneously. But it’s impossible to simultaneously do say two auditory tasks, such as listening to a teacher while reading notes (which is an auditory task as reading requires encoding text as auditory information). You may think that you’re multitasking but you’re really just task-switching, which can never be as efficient as focusing on one task at a time

Sure, taking notes and reading notes are a waste of time (while you can summarize things you learned in notes and actually get better at recalling those long term memories later) but using substances which is totally a choice for your own sake of dopamine consumption is ALLOWED once a week.
