EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! You definitely made this crystal clear and I had ZERO problems! It took me a while because I switched out all 10 bulbs with LEDs on my 2005 Mountaineer. Had to rotate the bulbs for polarity issues but I FINALLY got it done. Probably a 3 hour job for me. Thanks man!

Thank you, I wish I tried this myself instead of paying ford $500 to only diagnose the problem. 03 Explorer, Instrument cluster was completely non functional, power windows and radio would occasionally go out too. If anyone is on the fence about doing this repair yourself just do it, it would have saved me over $1000 if I had just manned up.

Great video. I want to remove my cluster to upgrade it to the cluster that displays fuel consumption. I am obtaining the cluster and info button from a salvage yard. Do i need to also get a wiring harness for the info button?

Great video...not sure what my problem is.. I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sports track, back lights and blinkers were acting up.Figured out the Multi function switch was the issues and replaced it. It fix some of the light issues. Now when turning on the lights the back light don't come on. Blinkers, hazards and Brake lights work though. The dash light are acting weird. Once you turn on lights the dash lights don't work but if you remote start the truck they are on. Once you hit the brake they go off...Crazy right. Any suggestions...this is killing me....

Great instruction Video! Thje trouble with my cluster is the odometer sometimes doesn't light up or it's very dim. Sometimes if I hit the dash a little it will light up bright again. Any idea what is wrong with it? It's LED so it's not s bulb problem.

Thanks for taking the time to make and post this video. Also nice to see you responding to questions. I just "inherited" a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport (2 door) and a couple of the bulbs must have blown in the cluster. Hard to tell what speed I'm driving at night, that's for sure. I'll be following your removal instructions soon! Can you tell me what the bulb type is so I can make sure I have the right kind and quantity on hand before I disassemble the whole thing? Not all the bulbs are blown, but I figure I'll just go ahead and replace them all while I've got the cluster out. Many thanks!

I'm not one to tell a ford tech how to do their job as you know much more than I ever will, but I like my way better as far as taking the center trim panel off. I push the air vents all the way down so that I can grab the lip that is there. A nice tug then pops out the whole thing. Easy peasy.. Also, removing the dummy panel on the right side across from the 4x4 buttons can allow you to pry it that way with your hands too. Prying with any tool, no matter the spot always leaves some risk for snapping stuff so I try to avoid it. Great video though!

I'm just going to put it out there that all you need to do is remove the black bezel which is two or three screws and then you can take out the cluster. No need to remove all of the other stuff. Not that you can't it's just not necessary. But I'm sure that's the time the shops charge you for.

Can you make a video for removing a 1996 Ford Explorer 4L GEM module? Mine isn't working anymore and the garage estimate says it will cost $850.00 if they do it for me. Ford and all the other makers who try to force our vehicles into an expensive dealer shop just to change a light bulb should be sued for unethical business practices. This is ridiculous watching this guy disassemble the whole dash, radio panel, gear indicator, etc. just to replace a common dash light set. But for $700 a Ford dealer near you would be happy to do it.

it is cetainly a helpful presentation , but you didn't BEGIN to tell what a virtually impossible task it is to get the gear indicator back into the cluster --- what a nightmare
