Great video covering the core topics! A couple topics that could be on a pt. 2: sub-par factory paintjob, shortbed/longbed rareness, "how big of tire can I run with/without trimming?", What are the re-gearing options? Alldogs has been an absolute excellent resource of information and parts; thank you guys!

I have a ‘15 pro-4x and it’s a great machine. I honestly don’t understand the full size truck market. I’m originally from South Africa, where Nissan marketed the Navara, also a great truck. If ever I wanted a “more capable” off-road vehicle, I’d go straight for the Toyota Land Cruiser V8. Ask any Australian or South African what they consider the best, it’s most likely the Land Cruiser.

Dave Meservy One thing that people may find an important consideration is turn radius. It’s not good. Not a deal breaker for me but just another consideration. Love my 2019 pro 4x. I get pretty decent mpg with 1.5 inch lift and 33s just using cruise and going like 60-65- slowing down helps a bunch and is safer if you have deer in the area and less tickets saves money too. One of the best features of the frontier that I’ve never heard anybody mention is that there is no seatbelt alarm! :) you think think this is minor but if drive stop and go on dirt roads a lot- those alarms are pretty damn annoying.. thanks Nissan!
@ricktipton9563
@ricktipton9563 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, turning radius is like a limobus. I have my passengers get out and guide me because I'm going to be doing back and turn, then forward a few times everytime I get out of a parking space. And I don't think I've ever put my truck in a parking space completely straight ever.

Thanks for the video, I have a 2019 Frontier SV extended cab 4x4. The last year of the 4.0 liter V6, a automatic purchased off the lot new for 28K. The best value in a midsized truck at the time it replaced a 2016 GMC Canyon extra cab that turned to junk at 22,000 miles. I don't off road with it thats what my Honda SXS is for. The Frontier is a great companion for my 2018 370Z coupe for when I want to zip around. I purchased them both for what a optioned out full sized truck would have cost. I do NOT regret it for a moment.

Just ordered a Borla exhaust (my brother has MBRP on his which also sounds good). Great trucks. I liked that the model run was so long, basically unchanged from 2005-2019. I was getting around 9 miles per gallon hauling the camper. I like the way it shifts it’s a smooth shift with the automatic transmission. I have 96,000 miles on it now and runs like when I bought it. It’s my second Frontier and not my last one. Thanks Nissan

My 2016 crewcab SV 4X4 gets an average of 19 mpg, and on long highway trips can go as high as 21. Totally stock, 5 speed automatic transmission. I'm not really an offroader, but just got some land which requires fire-road driving to get to. I've been doing it in my Kia Soul, which works fine as well as there's not a monsoon, and which... well, I'd just not be able to leave until the roads dried out. I'm trying to find my first fire-road/semi-offroad vehicle to help me build my get-away. It sounds like these are fixable issues, and with a bit of attention I could probably get something which will last me a while. I've a 2014 crew cab, 4.0 v6. Bought with 21k miles in July 2016, certified pre-owned from selling dealership where the truck was purchased from and traded back to with the 21k miles. Owner traded on a newer Frontier. Its now Jan 2021 and I have 67k miles. The dealership is still doing my complimentary oil changes, tire rotations and inspections. Knock on wood... no problems so far. I get 16 to 17 mpgs in mixed driving (not impressive). I just completed a drive to florida (where I sit typing this). My fuel calculations showed at most 20 to 21 mpgs on all interstate driven tanks of fuel.(not impressive). Not sure if it matters but I was mostly running 80ish miles per hour with traffic....with ease. That may have dropped potentially better gas mileage. I barely had the fuel pedal pressed to do the 80ish miles per hour. Felt like I had the power and torque potential necessary to stomp the gas pedal and easily hit 140. The truck handles like a champ on the interstate at 80+- miles per hour. Holds the lane and handles the speed with ease. I'm 6'0" tall and like a stretched out, comfortable driving position. I drove 12 hours and was not at all fatigued upon arrival to sunny Florida. Comfortable driving position and seats are important on such a drive. Frontier has that. Anyway, gotta roll. The bikini clad women are awaiting me and my Frontier.

Also the loss of the oil pressure gauge going to a dummy gauge in mid 06 and the loss of the camber bolts after mid 06. I'm on my third frontier for a reason but this time around I specifically sought out a low milage 05 since they seem to be better built and have more mechanical functions and the entire wiring harness is in the truck even for options the truck didn't come with which is great. All you have to do is deal with the radiator and they're solid. The only downside is you get slightly less fuel economy than in the 11-19s because they changed the vvt computer programming and optimized it a bit but I'll take the loss for actually having an oil pressure gauge and being able to turn my truck into an le minus the sunroof easily.

The 6MT is sought after because it can handle 600hp or more. LOJ conversions out of New Jersey makes a kit to bolt in an LS to the Nissan Frontier or Xterra. It’s also easily possible to to a bolt in VK56 conversion and adapters are available for the 6MT. If you purchase a truck with the 6MT, you also get the M226 rear axle, which is actually a Dana 44 and will have aftermarket options. The 5AT are strong too… Great Truck!

Great video. I'll ad this on the fuel economy. If you buy a 1 to 2 year low miles used Frontier, your cost of ownership will still be much lower the Toyota and GM even with their better fuel economy. The cost of maintenance on those takes away all the fuel savings. I'm looking to do a mild overlanding type lift on my 2016 pro4x. Most likely gonna run 33s. What do you recommend in your lifts for good handling and great travel with 4 people in the truck?

I had a 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SE. I drove that truck from 2004-2023. I just upgraded to a 2013 Frontier Crew Cab SL 4x4 with all the bells...I love the truck one thing you did not mention was the the heater problem for the transmission?. Or maybe you did. My mechanic moded it so that the fluids could not mix and blow the motor. I guess that is another known problem...I'm in Florida so it was a no brainer...I would love to know what you recommend if I want to make my truck look a bit more custom. I think a 2" or 4" lift would be nice and some 32" or 33" tires? any suggestions?

I'm looking for a spacer kit for my 2019 frontier.pro4x King cab just to up my tire size a bit but the spacer and extended leaf spring shackle kits say not compatible with Pro4x . What is the issue?

Another common (temporary issue) is the transfer case getting stuck if your battery voltage goes low while in 4WD (LO) engaged. This is just a computer issue though.

I have a 2011 SL 2x2. Only issues I have is the paint is coming off on both my front fenders in the bend. Also, the back lighting for my ac controls and radio is intermittently not working. Other then that, I’ve had no issues. I do get better gas mileage, I’m getting about 21 Hwy and 18.5 city.

Nice video and informative Thanks. I own a 2013 Nissan Frontier V6 SV and have towed a 21’ camper from Connecticut to Panama City, Florida and never had problems with the tow back and forth twice. . This is my second Frontier and won’t buy any other truck. Only problem I have is the noise draft coming from the rear right door gasket, seems it was a manufacture problem but no recalls. I just keep the radio on or open a window a little to keep the noise down. Overall a great truck.

I just inherited a 2017 Nissan Frontier SV, 4x4, 6,000 miles, perfect condition. I've been looking for reviews in reference to towing a camper. Trying to decide if I should keep the truck or sell it and buy something else. Your comment is soooo helpful! So far, I'm 99% sure I want to keep the truck. Mine has the noise draft thing too. Doesn't bother me too much though.

Yes there are a couple options available. Many people swap in the rear axle from a Pro-4X because the elocker is very popular. Another option would be an ARB air locker.

So the Titan swap on the Xterra gives three inches per side on width. Do you need wheel spacers on the rear wheels to match the new front width with the Titan swap? Thanks. I really enjoy your vids!

From a suspension geometry perspective, the Tacoma comes out on top and that gives it a decent advantage on the trails. Both fantastic offroading platforms regardless :)

i am picking up a 15 SV/Pro 4x, whatver that means ? its nit thecpro 4x but SV/PRO4X as oer vin. no lock. rear diif or skid plates. i dont think the rear is beefed up & no skids, it has hill decent. Info for me, in 4L does it only give power to one wheel in front & back ? so not really 4 wheel, even in 4L ?? i seen some video where this truck can slip a lot even in 4H on really slippery icy terreain.
@AlldogsOffroadCoop
@AlldogsOffroadCoop 5 ай бұрын
there is no such thing as a SV Pro4x. it is a SV trim. it has no locker so the truck will just send power to whichever wheel. pretty sure the truck does use the ABS system to mimic a locker but it's not a true locker like the Pro4x has.
